1244447 No.1244447 [Reply] [Original]

Noob here, I know this probably has been already asked but,

I downloaded SA and started playing, but after the "Stage 1 etc." showed up, the FPS suddenly dropped to app. 30, never going up for the rest of the game. Is there a way to fix it?
In b4 system32

30 is perfectly smoothe, why the hell do you need more?
probably an in-game limitation.

Also, try to delete system32, it might help.

Compared to EoSD where I play at 60 FPS, it isn't that smoothe.

Does your computer meet the system requirements?

1GHz processor
32MB VRAM
128MB RAM

System requirements are fine. But I remember someone saying I need to update DirectX first.

It should have updated it for you when you installed the game.

Even 60fps isn't perfectly smooth for fast paced games. Look at any fast moving evenly spaced line of bullets spanning the whole screen (such as those fired from your character), then look at other things, then look back. Notice how it takes conscious effort to track the motion, because of temporal aliasing. Accurate motion blur (temporal antialiasing) would help, but that's very expensive to compute, and at 60fps things would be too blurry. 120fps would be adequate, and 120fps is the framerate of the future because it's the lowest common multiple of the popular 24fps and 30fps (30/1.001fps really) framerates so we can display mixed framerate video without ugly uneven pulldown.

There is a option in the config file that will skip framerates by 1/2 or 1/3 or something like that. It helped my old computer run at 60fps but gameplay isn't has smooth.
