Politics is aesthetics. A campaign can't be won without rhetorical bullshit because the people are too stupid to know what they want. That being said, Obama is really good at his rhetorical bullshit. Even I got a little bit emotional.

Obviously he's saying that middle class wages will go up with careful regulation of a mixed economy. Which makes sense if you know anything about the Great Compression between FDR and Reagan.

Interesting thing - when he started, Obama talked too much policy in his speeches and people complained that he sounded like a professor. He's obviously a smart guy; I'm not worried about that. The right policies are another matter, though.

Which was possible back then, try raising buying power now, there's no way you can even think about improving that within the next five years, the economy is so fucked up, just having them stay at their actual value is good.
Then again, we can still make inflation, with all that new money in the banks, sure, they'll see their paycheck increase by a few digits, but probably not the number of things they can buy.

We're talking personal opinions here, being popular is of course a better way to win than having the right policy for the country, so few people understand anything about economics and world politics, all they want is the new candidate to pander to their little problems.

But talking about personal opinions, I don't want to vote for someone popular, I want to vote for someone efficient who will do the right choices.
