Although considering how shit the ending was, the conclusion Ryukishi apparently came up with is it is better to remain ignorant of the unpleasant truth and accept fantasy, because the knowledge won't change anything. Which is a really fucking lazy and escapist way to live.

You obviously didn't understand the real point of Umineko's ending. Honestly, you should try to stop being retarded and use your brain before making any judgment. But we both know that it's not possible, hmm...?

One little hint, dumbass. Witch. Of. Truth. It's three particularly important words. You should meditate on it one or two day and come back again.

Did you? Did you seriously use your brain for once? You can do it anon. You're stupid, but anyone can learn. Even moron like you.

Becoming a Witch of Truth is not opening his eye to the truth. It is blinding himself to the truth in the name of searching it, because the real truth is too painful to bear. Erika was a Witch of Truth when she dumped her boyfriend, incapable to prove to herself that her boyfriend loved her.

The ending of Umineko is not the choice between the truth or a fallacy. The ending of Umineko is the choice between becoming a Witch of Truth or accepting the world for what it is.

Since this has turned into a general Umineko thread, I'm going to semi-fondly reminisce.

Episode 1 was absolutely amazing. I love foreboding atmospheres, mystery, and storms. The buildup to the murders was delicious, and after the first 6, the scenes of them sitting around in the parlor nervously discussing things were great too. Then, what I think of as the climax - Natsumi kicking Maria and the servants out of the study - was just absolutely perfect. system0 isn't necessarily the best song ever, but it fit that scene perfectly. That scene has to be up there for best use of the VN format ever (especially with the PS3 sprites).

Then the later episodes... ugh. The (progressively shrinking) game board parts had the same great tense atmosphere, and the meta world was promising while it was still just Beatrice and Battler and red text. The fantasy parts were never anything other than a ridiculous distraction, and the Maria and Ange flashbacks were awful.

Despite the fact that she brought the meta world onto the game board a bit, Erika was a nice addition. Everything she did - going all detective mode on a 9 year old girl who just wanted to believe in magic, taping up everything when no murders had even happened, and especially her approach to the fake murders in ep 6 - was hilarious.

The "deduce the culprits" interactive part was cool, but by the end it was just a mess. I never actually finished ep 8, because I got a rough idea of the ending and thought it was ridiculous. Plus, why bother finishing a story if the author is just going to tell you to decide how you want it to end?

Oh yeah, speaking of the ending, R07's whole Schrodinger's Cat thing was terrible. I know nothing about physics, but I do know that it was a completely indefensible misinterpretation.

Oh well. Overall, I'm glad I read it - I think episode 1 is a more enjoyable read than And Then There Were None, so good job R07.

>> No.11828036

>>11827996
Schrodinger's Cat Box was used as a counter to collapsing wave forms. "If wave forms collapse etc etc you'd have a cat that's both alive and dead until it's observed, which is impossible, so that theory is wrong/silly". Ironically, R07 hypes up the "cat is both alive and dead part" without ever mentioning that Schrodinger himself thought that interpretation was wrong.

And while they're growing up, the player also starts understanding that the adults are all insane in their own ways. Kinzo begs for forgiveness, Natusuhi hates herself for failing at being a good mother, the Ushiromiya kids are all failures and are aware of it, Maria is either retarded, or a bit insane (hard to know), Georges saw the other kids as potential rivals, Eva is jealous of Krauss, Krauss abuses his position as the elder kid while being secretly incompetent, relying on Natsuhi, Rudolf is completely messed up on many levels, I don't even know what to think of him, his wife (what's her name already) is also a bit messed up...

Kyrie. Eva had a fucked up childhood and there's a lot of tension between her and Krauss, but she's still a good person. Likewise, Krauss is moe now but was fairly arrogant/abusive in the past. Rudolf and Kyrie though... they run scam businesses and are not afraid to murder for money. Honestly, this scene (pic related) nearly brought me to tears. Why... why would by cool uncle, Rudolf-ojisan, do this? My cool uncle who tells me jokes and who I look up to? Fuck Kyrie, fuck Rudolf.

The only French there was on whatever writs or warrants that were signed. This is because English pre-Shakespeare changed too much as a language of preservation, thus the less-evolving French was used.

It felt like it came out of nowhere, I thought Ryukishi said he never wanted to add sex scenes, so what made him change that idea?

Another thing I hated is Miguel completely changing. At first I thought he would survive, go insane, cause trouble everyone and be a wild card that no one knew what he would do or where he would be and cause trouble everyone.

But nope, he just calms down and sits somewhere happily. What a cop out.

I'd like to finish reading Rose Guns Days before the next WtC comes out though it'll never happen.

It's not so difficult, anon. It's plainly explained in the text. You don't have to have a PhD to understand, though of course the average I.Q of /jp/ is somewhat lacking.

Two choices.

Ange can either accept things as they are, keep living, become a successful author. It's the choice number one: Accept and carry on, stay sane, be successful, live a happy life.

Or Ange can become obsessed, in denial about what happened, constantly seeking a truth she is fully unable to accept, becoming the Witch of Truth in the process (and, maybe, losing her life). It's the choice number two: what makes Erika happy.

How can you get something so simple so wrong? Did some people even read the ending of Umineko? I can only think of two reasons to get it wrong: either you didn't read Umineko's ending and you're spouting meme and what you read on youtube's comments about it. I'm mostly fine about that, I think 80% of the people who post in the Umineko threads are doing that, but don't try to pass your knowledge for first hand knowledge. Or you're clinically retarded, and that's pointedly wrong.

Stupidity is not an excuse, anon. It'll never be.

If anything, the fact that there is no delusions from Ange's part in the first choice, but that the second is an Erika feast should have made you think twice. This doesn't actually work and is completely wrong.
The other servants have the same grey badge on them.

It's simply that all furniture are bellow human because of their class, not because of their inability to have sex but to be loved or to be seem as someone of the same status. Shannon even mentions in their date in ep 2 with George that she can't love him because she's furniture.

It's more of a social aspect than a biological one if you look at Lion who is the next head of the family, Krauss and Natsuhi who are part of the family and Ikuko who is the author, the highest position of them all. Shannon and Kanon are simply servant and by being tools, furniture, bellow respect, recognition and love.

The badge doesn't mean anything unless you imply that all servants have the same body or some crap.

>George says he doesn't care if she's furniture.

No he doesn't. He says he doesn't care if she's a *servant*

Furniture does not mean servant, the story says several times that George does not care about Shannon being a servant, yet their love can not succeed because Shannon is "Furniture"

If Furniture just means "servant" then why on Earth does Shannon remember a time *before* she knew she was Furniture, she's worked as a servant practically her entire life!

There's also the fact that being Furniture is consistently described as something that Shannon and Kanon can hide. In Episode 2 when Kanon does the magic blade thing, Beatrice says that it reveals to Jessica that he's a "subhuman freak." It's also given a strong sexual subtext, Beatrice points out that Shannon will no longer be able to hide it from George the moment he tries to have sex with her.

Unless they wore masks all day, it's impossible for them to hide the fact that they work a servants, yet they can hide that they're Furniture. In 3, the Stakes taunting Kanon specifically reveals that being Furniture means that he lacks a "human body."

Not to mention that in 7, it's flat out said by Yasu that because of the injury she had as an infant, she has a "body that can not love" and *that* is what makes her Furniture.

So when Battler became furniture after EP2, did he have his dick and balls cut off? Perhaps Genji did it with his super knife throwing while his was taking drunk Battler to see the master.... That's furniture for you, can't even tell when their being castrated.

No it's "I can't ever be in a relationship with Jessica because I'm a sexless subhuman freak of nature who should have died after I was born"

*That* is Kanon's thought process and why he calls himself "furniture"

Furniture surely doesn't mean asexual. Look at the Stakes, Ronove and the Siestas who are also considered furniture. No one of them lacks a clear defined gender.

In the first place, that scene was fantasy and thus meant to be symbolic.

When Beatrice makes Battler Furniture, she strips him of his clothing. Because while they can pretend to be normal, the moment you strip off their clothing the truth about them becomes obvious.

Next Beatrice, who in the fantasy is a full woman, has no issue undressing in front of the naked Battler. I mean, let's face it, that entire scene was filled to the brim with sexual text and subtext. However, Beatrice pointed out that there was no "shame", no actual sexuality in her actions toward Battler at all. Because Battler was "Furniture", and Furniture do not, can not, participate in human sexuality.
