If you want to start with something relatively easy, try Mountain of Faith. If you don't really care, just go from 6-14. Maybe skip 9 since it's a little different in gameplay.

MoF isn't a great starting place, it'll teach him bad bombing habits. Do 6 or 8, and don't skip 9.

Start with the first game and work your way sequentially through the series. Do not change games until you have 100% completed the one you are currently playing.

6, 7 and 8 are all good starting points, really. I think the invisi-hitbox thing can throw you if you're an absolute beginner, so skipping over 6 for a little while is reasonable. 7 is probably the most straightforward, for a beginner.

Speaking from personal experience, IN is even worse than MoF as far as bombing habits go. I've been playing for like six months now and I still wait way too long to bomb because I keep thinking I'm gonna have a 15 second deathbomb window.
