but it's difficult to give you a general rec, as it really depends on the video. I try to have the two parts roughly fit.

Specific example, I liked watching this morning drive (mute it, obviously):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV7W8xJ6Md8

with this track:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zhp7Y1-f0M

the music is a little jumpy (it's more psybient or whatever) and it plays nicely with the droplets jumping about, same length too.

Doesn't always need to be the same length though - I slowed one of his videos down in my own media player so i could pair it with a longer track.

For those who don't know, Mochizuki is a legend in mathematics. He became kind of a hermit a decade or so ago, and in 2012 came back and released stacks and stacks of papers with the ultimate conclusion that he had proved the ABC conjecture by inventing a few new fields of research. Last I checked, nobody even claimed to be able to fully understand what the later papers are saying. A grad student(?) took a few months of his life off devoted entirely to trying to figure out what the hell Mochizuki did, and the grand total of his results were that he thought he had found an error in one of a group of two hundred theorems or so. Within hours, Mochizuki pointed out that no, the assumption was satisfied by a constraint a few dozen pages back.

Last I heard, he finally agreed to give a lecture series to explain the foundations of one of the fields he's invented.

Nothing like hot food delivered to your door while it's freezing and snow covered outside followed by a gently draped warm quilt and a cup of tea by the dim glow of your monitor.

Yes! I really like his works.
Good music choice, by the way. ...And they escaped the weight of darkness is my favorite album of his. I have trouble learning the names so I'll just say musics 1, 3, 7 and 9 of it are really good in my opinion. The first song touches me in a way that makes me want to cry, while I find Tunglia (3rd) amazing.

Although I also have Living Room Songs and For Now I am Winter in high regard, my second favorite from him is Variations of Static. Wow man, what is that final song? It messes with me pretty bad. There are probably people who absolutely dislike the robotic voice, but they are charming to me, for some reason. While listening to it I can almost see the hospital bed. It's relaxing but very unsettling in a sad way if you feel involved with it.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! Variations is hands down my absolute favorite album. I had a different interpretation of the robotic voice. To me It is actually the voice of a sentient robot speaking to the listener, recalling memories of when the listener was young. And the listener is the one who is dying and the robot has to watch its lifelong friend die and feels all the same hurt as we do.

Follow up on that last post, really I think the whole theme of this album is one of loss and greif, while And they have Escaped the Weight of Darkness is one of Coming to terms with that loss.

I like your interpretation! While I listen to it I picture either one person thinking to himself or two people on a hospital bed. I haven't given it much thought, I just let my emotions flow while listening to it, but I guess I don't really consider the voices robotic because I also assume it's a near-death situation, so the perception or senses aren't going to be perfect. Or maybe it's robotic because of how the person lived so far, they forgot after all.
Unfortunately or unfortunately this is just us fans having fun:
"(...)"To me, the voice is something that makes me think about the surreality of computers or machines having feelings," Arnalds says. "It makes me think about where feelings come from. I was traveling when I was writing the song, and... I didn't have a microphone, so I just turned to the speech function on my Mac for some help.(...)"

About the themes... you know, I think I like your view more. I hope I don't sound stupid now, but I pictured Variations of static as the moment of death. With that name, the sadness and the beep sound, it's all I think about, and I guess we agree on this point. About ...And they have escaped the weight of darkness, I pictured it as a journey into the afterworld. A really introspective experience, mind you, not a "lol ur in heaven now"
Something about their weak life fading away, their messed memories, and the journey to remember who they are little by little, who they will go and what they will do now. Then at the end, on the happy tone, I see they finally escaping the darkness, maybe in heaven resting in peace (long time since I last used this non-ironically). I'm not even a spiritual believer myself, though.
Hmm, I think that indeed what I described was "coming to terms with that loss". However the loss for me is their own life, and when I read what you said I assumed the perspective was from other people who suffered from it.
Sorry for long post!
