You have been banned from /jp/ for posting >>11622194, a violation of Global Rule 3:

Posting the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry"), grotesque ("guro"), post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography. Keep /pol/ in /pol/.

Your ban was filed on November 15th, 2013 and expires on November 18th, 2013 at 00:00 ET, which is 2 days and 18 hours from now.

Pretty cool. I don't remember getting banned a single time for posting this image or a variant of it in the past few years. Is the rumor about moot specifically targeting those new to 4chan to be janitors? It's probably true. He keeps on going on about how he loves that 4chan keeps constantly changing, so maybe that's why he's doing it.

No, within this context it means reoccurring topics or jokes embraced by the community. Chris just keeps on going back and forth and what he wants on his site, so we constantly have these civil wars.

Nothing like that ever happens on /jp/. I'm serious. It's just not in our nature to unanimously find something funny (yes this happens on other boards). That's why things have to be spammed until we like them.

>>11622195,15
>Memes are never funny.

Then why are you here? And what do you find funny, and why couldn't it be a meme? Not all memes are image macros.

>> No.11622195,17 [INTERNAL]

I'm here for the lively discussion. The writing of James Thurber is pretty funny. Mitch Hedberg had his moments.

A meme, by definition, can be used in a witty way; but is never in and of itself funny.

Other things are spammed by one person endlessly, who also spams like nine other things and everybody wants them to fuck off.

Cool. You really have a great vision for /jp/.

You've already adopted a trip, why not check out registration-based forums for otaku interests? They are heavily moderated and nobody spams or tries to create memes. They are already at the point that /jp/ is only going to be at in another five years.

This never happens. Everything is funny to at least a few people.

But I have observed that some things latch on much faster than others. Just testing with my own memes, it seems to be random. Just depends on the collection of people lurking the board during that era.

>Just testing with my own memes, it seems to be random. Just depends on the collection of people lurking the board during that era.

This. I've done gimmicks that I frankly think are hilarious, sometimes I even go back and read my own posts days later just so I can laugh at how funny they were. But they never catch on with anyone else, even when people are aware of them.

Then I'll post a stupid, one-off thing and everyone copies. It's weird.

A retarded meme can be embraced by the community if some people like it and not very many people hate it (the vast majority of people won't care). The idiotic ones are the ones that are widely detested and have one or two super-fucking-persistent fans.

>> No.11622195,35 [INTERNAL]

>>11622195,34
And yet, nothing is fully hated. Some memes will be more liked than others, but persistence is the only thing you can truly rely on! You can't lose if you have disposable IPs as long as you don't stop.

You can also practice sockpuppet techniques like acting as a second or third party that has started using the meme by using different image names, or adjust the posting style just a little bit. This would take advantage of gullible /jp/sies and make it seem like more people enjoy the meme when it's actually just one person doing everything. Even if nobody else ends up using it (which is extremely rare if you've been persistent for a long time), it will still be remembered down the road, hated or loved. It's the same thing with tripfriends. Even the most uninteresting person would be recalled from time to time if they posted a lot.

>> No.11622195,36 [INTERNAL]

>>11622195,35
>it will still be remembered down the road

Good luck with that. 90% of board's population gets replaced within 2 years. If you won't perpetually teach the new people about this cool oldfag meme from days of yore, soon nobody will remember anything.

>> No.11622195,37 [INTERNAL]

>>11622195,35
>And yet, nothing is fully hated.
Obviously not. All you have to do is get one retarded friend to follow you around and suddenly somebody likes whatever retarded shit you're up to, so you're welcome in /jp/.

>Even if nobody else ends up using it (which is extremely rare if you've been persistent for a long time), it will still be remembered down the road, hated or loved
Yes, you'll be remembered for a few minutes every six or so months as that one autistic retard who posted a lot of Chie, after spending a hundred hours of your life forcing your shit in /jp/.

A very small amount of people use the same trip for a long enough period of time to make a mark. There are only a few dozen if we look at /jp/.

That's the actual problem. Every newshit trying to make a name for himself has taken a closer look at T (but not close enough to realize there's no such person) and is now deciding to emulate him in order to get their fifteen minutes of fame.

What's the angle we're gonna play then? bloat their egos and let them crash and burn when they try to carry their perceived popularity to /jp/? Make them popular to spite the janitors which in turn will make them and their cronies astroturf harder on the W, let the tripshit act by proxy and permanently move to the other archive? Or laugh at them like with shitzgay?

>spending a hundred hours
It's actually not that much time depending on how you do it. A daily dose is easy to script. Slow spam is easy from a phone. It's when you have a lot of different images and are trying to force some kind of idea, not "meme", that is becomes really complicated. That's not much different from real posting, though, so yeah.
