Mostly because its a creative outlet for me.

There is a constant buzzing of Touhou in my head, characters doing something or other, stories being crafted, going over autism-level details about all the little things.

If I could ever get around to trying to draw it would probably take up all of my freetime as well.

Also at this point I'm pretty certain its the only thing keeping me from falling into full-blown depression.

Cute girls and the setting. Gameplay isn't that appealing to me. I enjoy the music too, however I've grown somewhat weary of it.

I love the pre-Meiji era setting. I would love to just walk around unnoticed and explore Gensokyo.

I started playing the games only a year and a half or so ago. I enjoyed them, haven't played much recently but that's another story.

Also it's fun to indulge in fantasy, even if you accept that the girls you like aren't real, pretending is still fun.

Back in 2007, I hear Ran's theme and though it was awesome. After a while I started to listen to more of Touhou music and different arranges of Touhou music. After that I watched some of the fan made videos and art (yes I watched Mcrolled). It wasn't till 209
i started to play the games and after a while I got good enough to 1 CC each game on normal and beat PCB's extra. I continued to read some of Zun's books and lot of other Fan base material. Met my first Touhou fan other than myself in 2012 at Fort Leonardwood while going through Basic and AIT.

I love the game play (I'ts a simple and challenging). I love the story (simple, but interesting). I love the music (I can't workout by myself unless i have some Touhou Gabber arranges). Characters are awesome too with some of Zun's other works and finally I love the fan base and all there fan work (except the porn).

I guess it's the music that I find the most appealing.

I mainly enjoy the diversity of characters but a big sticking point is the music for sure. I like large casts, especially when they are this diverse. Not many characters blend together as samey that aren't meant to be (Aki sisters, Prismriver ect... though they have their differences for sure). The games are fun, and the torrents of art that the fandom puts out is amazing.
