I've read every doujinshi depicting the SDM group that I've managed to found in the last five or six years. And maybe 2 or three takes this matter seriosly. (I mean, the whole backstory of the SDM inhabitants and how did they gather).

And drama, with bits of happiness somewhere.
A dramatic end that makes you reflect on life, but that leaves you with a feeling of having learned something or feeling the need to be happy to be alive.

Most of them tend to skip over minor but still rather important details that I personally find interesting. Or most annoying of all, smushing in random fights between characters because reasons.

One thing I've realized that strikes me as odd is how little effort has been put into giving Patchouli any kind of real backstory. She's always just kinda there. While she's not exactly a favorite of mine, I still give her a reason for shacking up with a vampire in the first place at least.

As for the drama and happiness. Ehhh. There's a fair bit of both, though shit strikes the proverbial fan in the last 2 parts mostly. It ends on a relatively positive note that leaves hope for what comes next, but still pretty sore after everything else that happened.

Monster Girls start invading Gensokyo and causing troubles especially on males in human village. And it's up to Touhou girls, who unlike them, lack of sexual needs and almost have no libido at all, to solve the problems. Each girl will confront similiar species, like Yuugi vs Red Oni.

Though, it's not always confrontation, just how they will interact when they meet each other, like Alice took care of Alice, a Kappa joined Nitori's gang and Remilia's interaction with Vampire.
