So I want to release my own doujin game. Do you think elevens will take me seriously if I set up a booth at comiket? I'm Asian so they won't know right off the bat I'm a dirty gaijin.

How bad is the racism in Japan anyway? I can get not being taken seriously or accepted into society, but hardly think you risk getting hung in the street à la American South or anything.

Serious Reply:

Successful doujin games always viral market properly. You must release a demo or something. If it is a game: the demo must be fun, easy to install, and idiotproof. If it is a VN: I hope you have a very interesting concept and a firm grasp of the language, because that scene is over-saturated with TM wannabes.
Do not show /jp/ anything until you are more than 50% done with your game. I have seen too many projects fail and too many good ideas wasted because people blew their loads too fast. I also suggest that you do this project by yourself; you may think that more people will speed up the process, but "too many cooks spoil the food". Doujinshi is about expressing your love - yours alone. If you work in a team, your ideas will be alienated, and this will sap your motivation to finish.
Keep ZUN and Pixel on your mind: best of luck.

>> No.1155925

>>1155910
To be fair, it sounds like OP isn't the most important member of the team, so if anything they'd be kicking HIM out.

That said, there are plenty of successful doujin groups with multiple people; you need to stay small, but a few close friends can definitely get shit done.

>> No.1155936

>>1155910
Also, RTS, a la Command & Conquer.

>> No.1155946

>>1155904

We're trying to improve on the engine by making human air units(fighter planes, bombers etc) not just float somewhere when you command it to guard an area or patrol. Also we're trying to work out some sort of formation command to compensate for the AI clusterfucking when you attack move/general move a group of units. We're trying for something like a formation system like Homeworld where the group can only go as fast as the slowest unit. But one problem we came upon is that we wanted the formations to make sense and not just the computer putting your units in some random order. Right now it just does it randomly without regard to unit strengths. So alot of times if you group and make a formation with tanks and some lighter units, the lighter units will be in front and get slaughtered or indirect fire units will be in front and just get cut apart.

For AI we are fine tuning the difficulties. We know that everyone can't play like a Korean so making easy mode is kinda hard for us seeing as most of the team is pretty in to RTSs.

>>1155910

We kinda had to do this as a team. I can't program at all other than lol html but I have 4 years of Japanese to back me up. Our main programmer is a total otaku neckbeard who can't speak a word of moon other than kawaii. The guy that did our models only took 1 semester of Japanese before he lol kanji is too hard.

>> No.1155963

>>1155946
Whatever you end up doing with formations, you should have the option for players to set up their own formations. The easiest way to do that would probably be to let players move their units to where they want to be relative to the others, and then tell the units to hold that as a formation.
