For the longest time I've wanted a "penpal" in Japan, but that idea is starting to seem a bit outdated nowadays.
What I've always been interested in, is knowing someone in or around Tokyo to send packages of random things back-and-forth with.
I guess what I'm getting at is; How do I go about finding someone in Japan to "penpal" with?

Someone told me once that there are ways to have people in Japan go out and pick you up specific items from the store, but I don't even know how to look that up.

Interpals.
There used to be threads about on /int/ but I'm not so sure if they're still there.

I believe reddit has subreddit like that where people send each other snacks from across the world. Might want to try your chance there.

Everyone on /jp/ uses some "Japan Online" site or something with a similar name.

Not sure what this is:

No, sorry. I've heard that there are plenty of Japanese people there that are interested in western culture but most of them are swarmed by weeaboos. Maybe you could try looking for an older person? I believe there are older people on the site as well.

I just used japan-guide.com and found someone with no english in their profile to decrease the chances of someone else having messaged them. We're still in contact 2 years later. We use email, but sometimes I get letters.
