Nope. The leader of the 48 group after Takamina's departure will either be Yuihan or Sayanee. No one's coming close.

As for 48 group ace, everyone knows Mayuyu's not going to be it, because she's missing something that'd make her become the ace (much like how Paruru's missing a very important piece to become an ace too). With Yuko graduating probably in the next 2 or so years, the one who'll stand on top will probably be either Jurina or Sasshi. Yukirin will still probably stay in 3rd or 4th because she's too distanced from her fans in regard to how her heart works (quite a few people have already started losing interest in her because she does things from a business perspective, instead of actually honestly doing and saying things).

If Mayuyu and/or Paruru find their missing pieces, they'll probably shoot straight to the top, but I don't see that happening to either of them for a while.

Milky on the other hand probably will never be #1 unless Sayanee graduates.

Milky doesn't have enough female fans.

Sayanee has a high percentage of female fans who are very loyal, she has a lot of skills required to be at the top (singing, dancing, playing instruments, MCing, making gags that people will actually laugh at, improvising, leadership skills), has the body, has the brains, has the mystique and is trusted by quite a lot of people. Milky may have a higher rank in looks, the idol aura and the personality, but she's severely outgunned.

People have been saying that Sayanee's basically what you get if you combine Takamina and Acchan.

Milky will probably overtake Mayuyu, Yukirin and Rena as the years go by, but she likely won't beat Sayanee. She can stand toe-to-toe against Jurina if you give her time though.

Yeah I haven't seen as much enthusiasm from Rena as of late, but if she's just staying for team spirit and her love for lolis, then the latter will still make it so she stays longer.

In Yukirin's case, she's really high up there, but she's been alienating what's left of her female fans for a while now. The people of Kagoshima will still pool in tons of votes for her because she's their premiere idol, but how long is that really going to last? She's great at MCing, but that's a skill that can be obtained. Both of them are handshake goddesses, both of them are immensely popular with male fans, both of them have the power to influence higher-ups to give them advantages, they both have great looks and bodies, and they both have strong personalities. Milky though, is building her female fanbase (I've seen a few of her crazy fangirls), and has a much more interesting personality when she's relaxed, and seems much more driven to reach the top than Yukirin, who admittedly gave up.

Sayanee is working on it. Her whole senbatsu speech was a declaration of that intention. Sadly it's hard to get attention in media when you're on the lower half of senbatsu, as they're only settled at the back and are given far less chances to talk. And even if they are given the chance to talk, there's a higher chance of their talks being cut in editing.

We'll have to wait until she reaches top 8, which is likely next year due to Kojiharu, Takamina and Sae most likely ranking lower (especially Sae). She can take down Paruru and Yui if she gets more support from fans in other prefectures, and will have a good shot against Kojiharu. When Sayanee (and Milky) reach top 8, they'll be given a whole heap more opportunities within the AKB group.

How do you pick a favorite girl?

I've been following AKB stuff for a while and I just can't pick the one girl that stands out when there is so many of them. For a while I'd like one girl the best but then I'd realize that there's some other better girl, and then after her someone even better, so how exactly do you get an oshi? It seems impossible for me.

When I said that, I was actually thinking of her solo career. I agree with her handshakes (I've heard Yukirin's not as good when she's tired) and female fans, although Yukirin certainly does have some.
I was really impressed with her second solo live, it's probably my favourite AKB concert overall after the 1st Tokyo Dome. She has another one coming up, and I think if this single does decently it's not crazy to think they might happen semi-regularly. I don't think Milky is really ready (if ever) for that sort of thing.

For me it was like this:

I noticed her quickly when I saw her the first time, but didn't care much about her. Once she got her own special little corner in an AKB single, I started getting interested in her, especially with the way her voice sounded and her dialect. As time passed by, I kept coming back and watching stuff with her or listening to her on radio shows. By the time I realized it, I had already been buying magazines and official photos with her on it, and bought her photobook, and started commenting on her blog and following her on Google+.

It's gradual and you won't notice it at first, but give it time and you'll find out. One big hint is if you keep coming back to her as time passes by.

Milky's already talked about seriously taking some vocal training (she had a few sessions in her free time, and she said that the sound guys already could hear her improvement as she sang her parts for Bokura no Eureka), and is actually a very versatile dancer (she's learned Jazz, locking and other styles in her early years), and is actually a very good MC when she isn't nervous on-stage. She's already top idol material, so I see her getting a single once she polishes up her singing much like Mayuyu did. Of course Sayanee will likely come first.

Regarding Sae, yeah it would piss me off too if she got in senbatsu again next year, but she has a lot of stubborn fans (I guess it's a birds of a feather type of thing, as Sae herself is pretty stubborn).

The SKE fans have a very "us vs them" mentality, as you will notice when you see how SKE fans in Japan act (which was detailed in the SKE-concurrency arc of AKB49). Kitarie wasn't really hated or anything when she first got sent to Sakae, but SKE fans really didn't like the thought of someone from AKB being sent to SKE (the hypocrites won't comment about Jurina being in AKB since the start of her career). The antis started showing up when she agreed to do Terrace House at the request of Akimoto. She's just a really unfortunate girl.

The SKE fans eventually accepted Kitarie after a long time, but by then Akimoto had already seen enough. Kitarie is one of Akimoto's most trusted girls, so I can understand why he did what he did, but the whole Terrace House thing was a bad idea, especially after Kasai did retarded things on the TV reality show she was assigned to.

I don't agree with that theory. Yui had trouble with her extreme schedules, but she still managed to keep up with it fine. She even promised to bring Sayanee and the rest of NMB to Kouhaku, and even tried to take on half of the burdens Sayanee had as the leader of NMB. The staff were worried about her health, but the staff and Akimoto failed to notice that Yui was actually rapidly improving and becoming much more efficient with her time-management, and that she seriously loved being in NMB.

Perhaps maybe this WAS the reason they dissolved the concurrencies: Yui was getting far too attached to NMB even though she's a prime candidate for captaincy in AKB. Shinoda after all had her eyes on Yui since the start and likely accepted being captain even though she didn't like it just to give Yui time.

Kitahara and Ishida were just collateral damage maybe, but Ishida basically couldn't keep up with the concurrency and Kitahara was being hated on by the whole SKE fanbase.

They do have different images.
SKE has the athletic and intense dance image, which has stuck to them since their beginning.
HKT has the little sister image, which fits well except when you look at Sasshi, Chori and Tani.
AKB has the perfect idol and otaku-friendly image.

Still, with NMB being Yoshimoto's first foray into the pure idol scene, they've been messing up a lot and have made a lot of stupid decisions. Not only that, they obviously care more about their comedians, always plugging them onto NMB shows even when the focus of these shows should be the NMB girls themselves. They don't give them enough chances compared to AKS, and AKS is a fairly new company that started with AKB, but do a lot of things for their idols so that they can have careers and opportunities at every turn (as long as the idol herself works hard for it).

I watch anime, play VNs and play 2hu. I love the materials 2hu comes up with and I've always loved the girls being brought to life by fandom. My favorite 2hu game is Subterranean Animism because of Okuu and the rest of the gang, it was the 9th 2hu game I managed to 1cc because I personally found it difficult. For someone who follows all of them bar Ngzk, I would agree with these images.

AKB for me is like the jack of all trades general idol group as well as their powerhouse.
SKE is the union of weirdos and otaku who happened to dance really well and have decent looks.
NMB is the group of entertainment, Osaka roots and Yoshimoto made them create this variety type idols image who can also pull the sexy. They're also the strongest performance-wise and great MC-ing because of their variety sense.
HKT is the little sister group, where the girls are young and makes you want to support them as they grow. Currently growing their own variety sense (which in my opinion is the strongest out of the 48 groups) with a little thanks to Sashihara.

Flawless. She has a shit-ton of potential, and works VERY hard, but she has to work on her general appeal.
When she's on variety shows like Anta, Dare? or AKBingo she's shy and reluctant, kinda like Tano Yuka when she's forced to dress like a little girl and say "onii-chan daisuki!". I actually like that about her, she's really honest and not your usual forced idol.

In my humble opinion, she's another gem forgotten my management (Takeuchi Miyu everyone?), plus not having any MC skills or an idol-like aura doesn't help her with the little push, if any, she has. So who else thinks Kojiharu's going to graduate next year? It seems very odd that she'd be the center for the 33rd single, and they purposely chose choreography that wasn't too complex because Kojiharu has trouble remembering dances.

She's 25 years old and she's already polished her skill in comedy, has an absurdly sexy body and is very popular among both men and women.

She'll probably graduate alongside Yuko, who already stated that she's only still in AKB because she's waiting for the next generation to have someone worthy of becoming the next AKB center (she intended for Mayuyu to become the next center, but Mayuyu failed). I actually discovered these threads through k-pop threads on /mu/. Someone linked an AKB thread there in April and that's how I found my way here. I used to watch anime and play VNs, but I stopped doing all that in 2009, saying that I grew out of it is kind of rude, but that's how I feel about it. Mayuyu may have failed due to her flaws, and Yukirin already gave up on wanting to become center, but Jurina can quickly take over if the management really wants her to (she's already been center or co-center in a lot of singles).

Then when Sayaka (and Milky) catch up, it'll be a war between SKE and NMB, as Sayaka is pretty damn strong herself, has all the qualities necessary to be center, and even has talents that Yuko herself doesn't have.

I can see Sayaka and Milky either making #6 and #7 or #8 and #9 with Yui either ahead or behind them. Then after those girls comes Paruru, and probably Takamina and Suda after that.

The rest of the senbatsu will be hard to predict though, as I don't really know if Shibata's staying, or if Umeda and Kitarie make a comeback, then there's Takajo and Kizaki too. And maybe Matsumura.

Around 50k of those votes were HKT/Fukuoka fans. Now that HKT fans know more about their own girls, I doubt we'll be seeing Sasshi in first place again, unless Sasshi does something.
She just doesn't have enough staying power as center, and seems more like someone who'll keep moving in between the top 5 spots at every election. Jurina on the other hand has been featured as center for quite a few singles, and is very popular with children, teenagers and older people. Rena, well, she doesn't look like she'd fit being center, and neither do Yukirin, Paruru and Yui.

I care very little for Miichan, but I don't buy this bullshit either. I've seen that photo before, actually it has been floating on 2ch for months so I don't know why it became a net sensation only now.

Around the 3:54 mark. Kikuchi asks for a seat to sit on so that she can eat her lunch. She spots one with Minegishi's bag on top of it and asks if she could use it.
