Is "Marisa" the Japanese version of the name "Mary"?

>> No.11495031

No. "Mary" is the English version of the Latin name "Marisa".

>> No.11495032

No, it's a real European name. Some people think it comes from "Mary" or "Maria" (and some Marys and Marias get called "Marisa"), but it actually comes from "maris", which is Latin for "of the sea" (think "marine").

I think it's European name.

If Marisa is just a westaboo and Marisa could be a fake name, what'd be her true name?

>> No.11501114

Marisa is an English name that comes from the latin name "Maris". It used to be very common in England, and I believe both Maria and Marisa are still somewhat common in Italy and hispanic countries, although they seem to pronounce Marisa a little differently.

In Spanish it kind of sounds like Maria but with one of those strange "silent" h's in there, whilst in Italian it sounds like Mary-za. I'm not sure whether that's a result of their disgusting accents or if it's just the way they think it's supposed to be pronounced but either way it sounds horrible when they say it.
