Smooth enough, though the slowdown isn't accurate. Sometimes the audio stutters too, though not in a jarring way.

I've been playing it lately. There's a bunch of other sh3 games available too, such as Mushihimesama, Mushisama Futari (including 1.5 and BL), Ibara and Muchi Muchi Pork.

Sure as hell beats buying a 360.

I'm not a shooter fan of any series, but the only difference I can tell between the two mechanics-wise is that Cave shooters fill the screen with even more bullshit bullets and huge ass collectables that make the whole screen a visually distracting mess, with barely any sense of patterns or design.
