Sometimes I watch Japanese cartoons or films where a character washes themselves in the bathroom. Not in the bath, but they'll sit on a stool and wash their back or something. Now, this makes sense for public bathhouses, but how does this work in the home? Do most Japanese homes have stone floors and drainage systems? And why not just do all this in the bath?

>> No.11384774

The bath is for relaxing, not cleaning yourself.

They usually have tiled floors with a drain.

>> No.11384777

They have just regular showers and baths. Some homes have traditional bathrooms but that's mostly gone.

>> No.11384780

Is it true that most Japanese toilets are actually just holes in the ground, and not those fancy machines with 20 buttons? Has pop culture lied to me?

>> No.11384782

What's with all these gimmicks, anyway? Showers work fine. They're the best way to clean.

I know there are examples from every country, but it really pisses me off how much the Japanese don't listen to scientific evidence. It's like they have no critical thinking skills. They're too busy comparing blood type compatibility and picking each others' ears to think for themselves.

When I visited Japan (10 years ago), my friend's house had a bizarre bathroom.

Basically the door to the bathroom was almost like a shower door with a rubber lip, and you'd be stepping down one step into the "bathroom", which was literally just a ceramic tiled room with a drain in the floor. There's a toilet in the corner, and a shower head on the wall and a stool.

It also had a neat little thermostat doodly that you could use to adjust the heat/fan in their.

So yeah, it's just like a big washing room. Not sure why you'd want one compared to a shower (looked expensive), but they do exist.

I went to a villa place once that had this. It was pretty cool. Like, rather than having a dedicated shower, the whole room WAS the shower. I don't get why that isn't the default set-up, maybe because stone tiles are expensive.

Lately there's been this thing where my feet feel really dirty so before I get into bed I will clean them.

Its also gross when people only use soap, leaving their skin dry. You should use a heavy moisturizer soap or a body wash like it, or apply lotion all over after a shower.

- I actually need to shower because I'm starting to smell

To catch STDs, there has to be a transmission of blood or sexual fluids. If she bled in the bath, and then you got in with an open wound on your body somewhere, it's possible you could catch it I think.

Technically, you could get one from even shaking hands with an infected person if both of you had open cuts which contacted in the process. Although I think some of their blood would have to get into your cut for you to get infected. Still, it's quite scary how your whole life could get changed through such a small action.

Did you know that frequent bathing, especially when it's performed without getting dirty, messes up your skin's regulatory mechanisms? When you frequently strip your skin and hair of their natural oils, your body will increase oil production. People who bathe daily get greasier more quickly than people who bathe every other day or so.

Unless you force water in there then it's not going to get in. Human bodies are smart and block water from entering the body when they're submerged in water. When a girl is on her period, the blood temporarily stop coming out when they're bathing. It's pretty cool considering how the vagina works and is made to allow small amounts of fluid to seep out.
You could get yourself checked out just to make sure, but you more than likely won't have anything. My mother has an STD but I'm free of that stuff, and we both use the bath. Just don't share bath water I guess, she might have masturbated in there before you went in.
