any mahjong players?
Used to play an online mahjong game called
Janryumon (now its called ShinJanryumon)
since this update I needed to make a new account, but now, after a few matches it shows like a buy tickets screen?
anyways... is Janryumon now a pay to play game?

if so, do you know another mahjong online game like janryumon?

fuck off

>> No.11304658

None.

I heard /a/ had lots. Its just a rumor through I'm not quite sure try asking them.

hmmm... wrong board I guess... maybe mahjong is not from /jp/

ok, thanks anon

>> No.11304676

I think I saw people mention somewhere that Janryuumon is pay to play now, but I only used tenhou.

If you want to talk about Mahjong, look in the /a/ catalog for a thread with a saki image and "tanoshii" in the title

thanks anon, will try some luck on /a/

It is.

...or just wait until all the shitposting kids from /a/ go back to their own board. Might take a while with Comiket and moot trolling them into stratosphere, though.

I don't mind Mahjong threads myself, I just figured it might help him to know that there are threads almost constantly up on /a/. Although it seems they aren't there now with the naruto spam.

Welcome to Gree.

And if you're looking on /a/ for mahjong players, you should probably go to the Saki thread. Search for "tanoshii"

Nobody play anymore
No longer the flavor of the month
Not hip or trendy anymore
Most importantly there is nothing to keep the interest in mahjong going
Playing mahjong is worse than playing a mmo, there is no end to the grind, there is no endgame and there is no reward in playing unless you are gambling for money

There's no reward especially if you're gambling for money. Only despair.

You might just as well send him to /r/mahjong while you're at it.

There is a /r/mahjong?
Is there where random non 4chan 7447 faggots come from?

>> No.11304799

JRM slowly became more and more pay-to-play and now i think its pretty flat out. On the other hand, they stopped blocking foreign IPs, but still it's ass, just play tenhou.

Of course lately I tried playing Mahjong Fight Club in the arcade, where you need to drop 100yen to start playing a game and then another 100 yen if you lose 5000 points during a game, otherwise a CPU replaces you and you get automatic 4th place. God damn that is awful, but there's always people playing it.

Retard Master, is that you?

>> No.11304867

>>11304786
No, that would probably be osamuko (especially their mahjong league).

Note that those people can usually play quite well, in stark contrast to random 4chan faggots.

>Note that those people can usually play quite well, in stark contrast to random 4chan faggots.

But you get rewarded for playing lots of games even if you suck balls.

Just look at this guy who is constantly in the top 5 named kosutasu with:
1st 28.03
2nd 26.52
3rd 12.12
4th 33.33 <--- ( last place in 1/3 of all games)
Avg. 2.51
That's not a bell curve that demonstrates your skill, that's what happens when you only go for toitoi with every hand and don't know how to play.

Sure the competition format sucks, but it still managed to bring some people from other communities (non-English speakers, etc.) who'd otherwise be playing on 0000 or among themselves.

The fags who decided to take up mahjong on a whim after watching Saki are certainly still there, probably a large majority. But they'd be there anyway.

The fact that /a/ plays more mahjong than /jp/ is a shame for this board.

If anything, it just demonstrates that its not any fun to aim for 3rd place.

That it is.

You get a courtesy amount of tickets with a new account and some more for JRM 3 accounts upon the transition. I still have some and play sparingly enough so I'm not running out soon.

This explains it more or less well:

http://subatomicbrainfreeze.typepad.com/subatomic_brainfreeze/2013/01/online-mahjong-client-janryumon-has-updated-to-a-new-version-as-of-the-15th-called-shin-true-janryumon-as-always-it.html

Also 3p mahjong is better and more fun.

>> No.11309610

>>11309294
True, but that's no reason to aim for fourth.

>> No.11309771

3p mahjong is like a fighting game match where both players hold forward and push buttons the entire round

>> No.11314017

3p mahjong is pretty stupid... it's less skill and more luck.
