A nigger, a Jew and a grossly obese Mexican walk into a gay bar. They approach a cum-gargling faggot with a 2-inch long, always flaccid penis using a laptop at a table.

"You wanna come back to our place?" the nigger asks the faggot. "You can toss my mexican friend's rancid herpes-and-shit-covered salad and jerk my Jewish friend's wart-and-pimple covered penis while I ram my giant unlubed nigger-cock into your gaping oft-fucked asshole."

Preparing for a 1cc normal of PCB (ReimuA). I can actually come pretty close, but I'm having trouble on some of Yuyuko's attacks, particularly...

-her 2nd non-spellcard (Not difficult streaming, but it seems to last way too long, I typically end up having to bomb)

-Deadly Dance "Law of Mortality -Dead Butterfly-" (its streaming again, I know, but the chasers clump together and it's really visually obstructive. I always end up getting cornered or I just run into a butterfly)

-her 3rd non-spellcard(Knifes) (Again, not terribly hard, but I heard there was a trick to it, just always seems to last way too long)

-"Repository of Hirokawa -Ghost-" (I always fuck this up, I know it's steaming, but I get trapped, sometimes twice. I was told there's a particular method to it, just not what the method is)

-"Sumizome Perfect Blossom -Getting Lost-" (I just have no fucking idea)

-Resurrection Butterfly (cant fucking figure out those red butterflies)

I've 1cc'd Mof IN TD, and extra cleared IN, just to give an idea on my abilities.

>-her 2nd non-spellcard
Everything is aimed. Make quick cutback motion if you need to. Depending on the shot type, you can shotgun Yuyuko at the beginning of the nonspell and head to a corner once she starts firing bullets. She'll be dead by the time you're to the other corner.

>-Deadly Dance "Law of Mortality -Dead Butterfly-"
Butterflies are static. Bubbles are static before they aim at you.

>-her 3rd non-spellcard(Knifes)
Knives are static. Bubbles are aimed.

>-"Repository of Hirokawa -Ghost-"
Spread butterflies are static. The clumps are aimed.

>-"Sumizome Perfect Blossom -Getting Lost-"
The butterflies are a variant of aimed. Everything else is random. Experiment with controlling her motion with your own position relative to her.

There's nothing elaborate or intelligent about surviving Yuyuko's patterns on Normal. I don't mean that to be degrading; there's simply nothing worth talking about that he couldn't figure out on his own with an ounce of dedication and experimentation. I'm not going to tell him how to dodge something. Saying "it's static" should be enough of a cue to find and memorize a route through it.

It's been a while since I last played PCB, but I recall staying a bit high on the screen for Ressurection Butterfly, just below where the red butterfly rings break. Once the first ring breaks I figure out the safe lane and start pulling back to the edge of the screen to prepare for the 2nd and 3rd breaks. Most of my dodges are tiny diagonal movements.

The card is a pain in the ass as the butterflies don't break exactly the same way so you have to dodge on the fly.

The knives/spirits card is shitty. There really is no trick to it. Just be thankful Yuyuko's hitbox is massive in this phase. It will push you around, so go with the flow.

Also you seem to have problems with the spirits. The hitbox on them are deceptively small so be a bit more daring than you normally would.

Random question, what are your resources like going into Yuyuko? You should be breaking the 800 (or 1000) point item extend going into the last fight.

The green/yellow patterns have three large gaps in their breaks, in the middle and to the extreme sides. The safest place on the screen is lined with the "Perfect" on the right-side display. All you need is very small lateral taps.

Getting Lost... is it really aimed? I usually hang out in the middle of the screen and and the empty paths just open up on their own.

from easiest to hardest i would say:
in terms of stage
PCB>MoF>TD>EoSD>SA>UFO>GFW

in terms of boss
MoF>UFO>SA>PCB>TD>EoSD>GFW

I would actually say MoF has the easiest extra (if only because of Suwako, but you also start at full power); what makes SA and UFO hard is the stage since anything that's not static on Koishi is aimed and rather easy to work with, and Nue is easy with enough resources (which is why the stage is just hell); EoSD and TD are only hard because of how those games work, PCB´s extra and phantasm are pretty tame and once you learn Ran (and by extension Yukari) they're easy

Finally GFW is just plain the hardest, you have to plan every single freeze in the stage and Marisa will just fuck you sideways, thankfully GFW gives extra lives the easiest in any game

I didn't include IN because I mainly use Border team, which is basically an "auto-win" shottype

>> No.11083770

I'm not sure I'd put Koishi as that easy in terms of extra bosses. From a not so expert point of view she's a nightmare. She's the only extra boss that beats me constantly with her first card.

>>11083770
I guess you're right, I still think Koishi is easy because she's static, but learning her fight in the first place is really hard, and even if you learn it you can still screw up and if you die on Koishi (or Sanae for the matter), you effectively lost two lives (one from dying and another from the life piece you're not getting), so I guess she's more between Mamizou and Flandre

Watch a playthrough of her and you should never die to that card again. All you do is position yourself to dodge the big lines and then when she fires the aimed bullets you quickly cut to the side then slowly stream back to the middle for the big lines again.

>-her 2nd non-spellcard
As you said, this is streaming, but maybe your streaming is too fast if you run out of room. Practice and try moving just enough to pass the bubble bullet aimed at you.
>-Deadly Dance "Law of Mortality -Dead Butterfly-"
It's abnormal streaming. A lot of players at normal skill will bomb, and I might suggest the same on your serious run. The butterflies force you to hesitate while the bubbles will force you to panic. Don't just use horizontal dodging. Don't use normal feinting tactics, they wont work on this one. You'll notice that occasionally the bubbles will pause for a brief moment and give you a small window to start streaming to the other side of the screen.
>-her 3rd non-spellcard(Knifes)
I don't think there is a trick. Stay under her to finish it quick or stay off to the side for safety.
>-"Repository of Hirokawa -Ghost-"
If you're getting trapped, you are probably streaming too quickly. You only need to tap to avoid the aimed butterfly lines. For normal you can stay near the bottom left/right corner as a safe spot against her static shot. Don't start streaming until the aimed lines get close, then slowly move over to the center of the screen. You should be near the center when she fires the next static wave- when she does, unfocus over to the next corner, wait for the next aimed lines, rinse and repeat. Very conservative tactic but you'll survive.

>-"Sumizome Perfect Blossom -Getting Lost-" (I just have no fucking idea)
The butterflies are mostly aimed "around" you, so don't try to stream this or you'll run into them. Really this is all about not panicking and taking it slow. For normal, you should just be able to carefully move from one side to another just to make sure the butterflies don't clump around you. So long you don't freak out, if you get stuck the bullets move so slowly you'll have more than acquitted time to bomb.
-Resurrection Butterfly
Don't get tunnel vision, and dodge quickly yet carefully. I believe on normal you can dodge the reds before they spread out.

The opening fairies went okay, I had a super nice dodge right at the beginning, and, uh, I think I collected all the first point items at 6000 PIV. Woohoo! I'm always very nervous at this opening because there are so many bullets and they move so fast, but I can also take comfort in the fact that a restart will not lose me any hours of playtime. Okay, well, no run is hours long, but figuratively speaking. Actually, though the esc+r button combination has a little bit of lag for me, so it always takes me a longer time to restart in this game than it does in other games. In fact, I usually need to press the "r" key twice! It's absurd, but alas, with practice I will learn to time it better.

I got really afraid when the first line of fairies after the first big faries came down and shot their bullets at me, because I was out of position and thus couldn't take it easy and stream it like a normal superplayer. However, fortunatley I have been honing my dodging skills ever since I started playing shmups, and thus had little difficulty improvising a path through what I like to call the "fan" pattern that their bullets created.

I messed up AGAIN after the second big fairy, dropping a bit of faith because I was overeager to kill the little fairies in the aftermath of my previous blunder. I suppose this is a lesson for us all, eh? The most important thing when playing Touhou is to always stay calm and collected. Although I suppose this makes the game a bit less fun, since some people live for what I have heard called "the rush". Honestly, that's kind of silly to me - isn't a rush a bird? Whatever. To each his own, I suppose. Well, his or her own. Don't want to be sexist here.

Shizuha always scares me a bit, because I don't really know where the lanes in her nonspell's bullets are going to appear, and frankly, they're impossibly fast to read! However, I got lucky this time, and managed to dodge all of the balls she threw at me. I like to think of her bullets as sweet potatoes, even though it is actually Minoriko who is associated with the aforementioned apple of the earth, since they basically look like the same character anyways.

And then, oh my, Falling Leaves of Madness. Madness indeed! I was SOOO mad when I got killed on this spell. I mean, I've never captured it before, but I ALWAYS manage to deathbomb it. ALWAYS. Needless to say, I was quite shaken. I'm actually wondering if perhaps this mistake was due to my diet. I have eaten nothing but bologna and rice for the past several days, and haven't played Touhou in as much time, so it might be related to that. Do certain foods have an adverse effect on one's response time? Perhaps one of the more scientifically inclined of you should do an experiment to get to the bottom of this.

Well, being the seasoned apathist I am, I eventually convinced myself that it was not a huge blunder, since I had managed to do the previous nonspell perfectly. As a result, the second half of the stage portion went smoothly. Well, until the very end, at least. I accidentally went to the PoC too early at the end because I forgot that it was the end of the stage, and I lost a TON of faith as a result! Literally, a ton. I was just watching it drop down, and I just wanted to rip out all of my hair. I actually did rip out a little bit, and then I had to take some time to pick it up off my keyboard, since that would be a stupid way to ruin a keyboard. Anyways, you can see some of my anguish by watching the way that Reimu flails around during the dialogue.

To be continued~

With an upset mind comes upset gameplay, as my mentor Confuscius once said in 1984 (well, this is a rough transliteration at best). His words were proved once again as I died to Minoriko's first nonspell while still flailing around in the miasma of my earlier faith-droppings. In my subsequent rage, I am blinded with respect to the location of the PoC line, although this does not end up having an adverse effect on the run other than brief emotional turmoil.

As Autumn Sky and a Maiden's Heart comes on the screen, I get very excited, because this run has the potential to be my personal best! I actually pause the game for about 10 minutes and take a walk around my room to calm my nerves. Although I do not capture it, I do last -just- long enough for me to beat my old record. Woohoo!

Overall, I think this is was a satisfying run, although there are obviously many things that need improvement.

What are your experiences with using a arcade stick? I've only been playing Touhou for a few days now, I find it hard to move around in tight spots with the arrow keys (with and without focus) Specifically with Marisa in EoSD.
Going to give it a try tomorrow, I'd imagine it feels a lot more natural.

>> No.11107845

>>11107813
You find it hard because you're new, not because you play keyboard. Sticks take some getting used to and most players who use them do so because they grew up in arcades or just feel like learning stick to simulate the arcade feel. Pad or keyboard is probably the easiest to use for most people since it's an input device you're already comfortable with between consoles and whatever keyboard stuff you might play on your PC.

It's just streaming, but can be really frustrating because the laser hit boxes in SA are bullshit. The lasers are just made of normal bullets that have been stretched out, giving them an oval/diamond shaped hitbox. So contrary to what you're used to in just about every other shmup ever made, you can clear the tip of the laser but still get clipped as the middle passes by you.

TD guy here, got some rest and just beat it this morning in two tries. That officially means I've beaten every main-game touhou (on normal) which was one of my bigger goals.

weird glitch: My clear run this morning had a weird glitch whenever I would bomb with Marisa the game would slow down. I'm visiting family so I'm on a pretty shitastic computer but all my other runs were on the same computer and you can tell they had no slow-downs

That said I feel like taking on a extra stage, just can't decide, so which one should I try.

MoF extra as ReimuA is disgustingly easy.
