Why do paintings of Jesus, Mary and saints always look so creepy, like the painting itself is posessed.
My grandma has a really large picture of Jesus, the one everyone has, and I was always scared of looking at it too long as a kid.
There was also a statue of the virgin mary in my great grandmas house and I used to climb and jump off it, but that one wasnt so scary...

Those statues were not always anatomically accurate so its not something good to use as reference of how people were in the era. giant heads, hands, inhumanly large muscles.
