Okay so not entirely relevant but I can't post this to /tv/ and /a/ will just scream 3DPD at me until the janitor deletes the thread.

Looking for some good JDrama recommendations since I'm currently learning the language. Ones that are realistic, engaging and with a good storyline, like Life.

Densha Otoko.
Maid in Akihabara.
Kamen Rider Wizard.

Oh, I always meant to watch Densha Otoko, and Maid in Akihabara looks like good fun.
Not sure about Kamen Rider since I'm aiming for more girly television but I'll definitely give it a watch.

Thank a lot! x

Oh and if you are learning language then Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo is brilliant for that. Good comedy, too. Goes to show how complex the damn language really is. Glad I'm studying Chinese instead.

Wat.
Chinese always looked so damn complicated to me. I know it sounds stereotypical but every word sounds so too similar, I can never make sense of it. If you're studying it though you must be pretty intelligent, so good luck and thanks for the suggestion!

Enjoyed Saikou no Rikon and Tonbi last season. Currently watching Kasuka na Kanojo, Itazura na Kiss and probably Galileo 2.

I don't have the boner for him that most other people do, but Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is some genius comedy writing. It's probably the unequivocally best Japanese comedy I've ever seen, probably because it avoids the retarded stale comedy bits that are the mainstay of shows like this and treats its audience like intelligent people.

I immediately loved it after this scene from the first episode:

> closeup shots of male romantic lead walking along a bridge at night
> alternating closeup shots of female romantic lead walking along a bridge in the other direction
> me: "oh great, here comes a predictable meet cute scene where they run into each other for the first time and have some contrived conversation"
> wide shot: they're actually walking across two different parallel bridges, hundreds of feet away from each other
> in that episode they never meet at all

I laughed good and hard. And that was before the final scene of the episode, which ends with the OTHER female lead sticking her hand up his butt.

Seriously, go watch it now; I'm still seeding the D-Addicts torrent.

Ohhhh, this was on TV when I was at the salon one time. It was an episode from the middle of the series so I didn't know what was going on but I remember thinking the guy they got to play Onizuka (Takashi Sorimachi I think?) was quite good. Been meaning to watch the whole thing.

If you liked LIFE for the oodles melodrama you might enjoy Namae wo Nakushita Megami for the same reason; it's kind of like Desperate Japanese Housewives And Their Kids. Lots of characters you want to slap, etc. Some parts were disappointing (and the ending made me rage a little) but I don't regret watching it.

Thank you, will find and watch.

Forgot to add in a mention of Uta no Oniisan, one of the few exceptions to the otherwise useful rule of "anything with a Johnny's lead sucks", featuring the short guy from Arashi as a children's show host who hates his job.
