Still under-appreciated. She's getting some love from /jp/ though, at least in very recent times.

Miko is probably the most interesting character we've had recently. Interesting backstory, interesting spellcards, fun and modern look, I really don't understand how she isn't more popular.

Second best final boss theme, only behind Hijiri.

To be honest though, it took me a very long time to warm up to True Administrator. I think it's something you have to listen to in-game to really appreciate how well it fits both Miko and her fight.

The first thing that comes to mind is that she is based on a very real person from the outside world. There's a multitude of things you could speculate/gather from that. One of those being her height, which may or may not put her at the tallest touhou spot (about six feet).

What I think is the most interesting thing about her though is the fact she's the only stage six boss who is very much human. The fact she shares a title with ancient vampires, gods, hell ravens, and other strange and otherworldly creatures leads me to believe that Miko is exceptionally powerful. Not that we don't already know Gensokyo humans can be strong since we already have Marisa, but it's an interesting thing to think about.

Her relationship with Byakuren and Kanako even, heck, SoPM in it's entirety was really fun to read. Her interactions with Marisa and Reimu in it leave much to ask about.

All together though, Miko is a wonderful addition to the case.

Miko gets more love now than she did at the beginning. At first it seemed like everyone hated her, with artists barely drawing any pictures of her or having every Miko vs Byakuren picture be one sided victory for Byakuren. It seemed like she was the most hated final boss. I remember some anon linking to a character page for Touhou characters on TVTropes and Miko's section was filled with negative stuff. Stuff like SOPM helped people warm up to her though and HM will probably boost her popularity some more. She seems to be especially liked on /jp/ now because friend of humans.

Of course new Touhou characters are often disliked at first, simply because they are not the SDM crew or any other old and popular character.

Keep in mind that she doesn't actually walk. In actuality, she's floating just slightly about the ground.
Her shoes are much less pressuring because of this.

Seiga is like Tenshi in that she'll get bored with you once you've outlived your immediate usefulness.

That's not to say she isn't (maybe) a nice lady, but if you're the type that gets attached to any girl who gives you the time of day, prepare for disappointment.

She's still sexy, though.

I think the initial problem is that people thought her gimmick looked dumb. Futo had a boat and an accent and Tojiko looked like Mima, but all Miko had was bedhead and inexplicable headphones.

Once her character got fleshed out more and people started realizing how incredibly charismatic she can be, things picked up greatly from there. Things like Skyscraper's Lust and, to a lesser extent, Myon Myon Typhoon were great for this.
