it is the first time I paid for eroge.

and it will be the last. if they'd just given me an iso file and not some installer that corrupted itself, everything would be fine and my $28 not a waste.

pirating games is the only responsible thing to do if this is what happens.

try running it with Japanese locale

>> No.10715129

I've been burned so many times, I just don't buy anything anymore. And I'm too scared to pirate, so I'm left totally out in the cold.

You can only change regions and sit through bullshit advertisements so many times before you just throw your hands up. These companies need to realize that if they take things too far, people will stop buying their products.

The optimum way of doing it would be to just host the files, and put together a plain html page with direct download links. The page would be passworded, and you would pay them for the password. Simple as that.

The fact that pirates provided this over ten years ago, and yet companies still haven't adopted this distribution method is really sad, and it's killed a lot of creative industries.

when I downloaded it i didn't have japanese locale on. do you think that could affect the way something downloaded? there is like constant text corruption even in the folder

you know the sad thing? i had a windows 7 JP install and everything worked on that no matter what.

but then stupid /g/ said try linux. STUPID /g/.

and now the only version of windows 7 you can find is in English.

life is agony.

Possibly, but I've never heard of such a thing.
Try it anyway, with your whole computer restarted and changed to Japanese for non-unicode languages.

Also, in the region & languages Formats tab, change it to Japanese too. Yes, it sounds retarded, but some programs can have a problem with this, usually on purpose to prevent foreigners from playing.

I'm almost certain that there is nothing wrong with the installer, just something fucked up with the language settings or whatever.

Linux is horrible for any Japanese media and game. Especially doujin games.
You only have yourself to blame as you should be well aware of the hoops you need to jump through to get even the simplest of Japanese game working. Most games will ONLY work in windows.

Huh. Changing the language in Windows 7 is trivial. I don't think you need a specific installation for it to work, you just download and install the language pack.

That is indeed the case. You can even do it through Windows Update without issue.
At least for Ultimate anyways. Not sure about lower shit.
