Hello, guy living in Japan here. I'm 26 and have been living here for about 5 years now. Currently based close to Tokyo and go quite often. In fact, I just went yesterday with my friends.

Just here to answer any questions you may have about Japan, confirm any rumors or such that you may have heard, give an insight to how things really are here, etc. Feel free to ask any kinds of questions.

So how are things over there in reality? Do they really put up JAPANESE PEOPLE ONRY NO WHITE BAKA GAIJIN ALLOWED signs all over the place? What ethnicity are you? Are you fluent in Japanese?

I won't give any personal details, unfortunately.

However, Japanese women are like any other women: some "give out" easily, some don't, etc. In general, sex is more of a casual thing but also often seen as more pure than Westerners might see it. It really just depends on who you meet.

There are many women here, though, who still live at home with their parents and are boyfriend-less at the age of 28, despite being pretty. The reasons vary from being horribly shy, very picky, prude, etc. If that helps paint you a picture.

>>10691334

Things are fun here. There's no "JP ONLY" signs or anything.

I'm American. I wouldn't say that I'm fluent yet, but I can have a conversation with anybody on any sort of everyday topic. Things like scientific topics and whatnot have vocabulary that's too difficult for me, though.

People are very kind here. Most of them will get nervous or shy around you, especially if you don't speak Japanese. Once you show them that you can speak their language, they ease up a lot. Barely anybody speaks English here. Everybody is quite bad at it and can only say "How are you?" or something.

>>10691335

They'd probably kick you out? I'm not sure what sort of rules they have about that. I've only been to a net cafe one time.

I don't do anything physical with anybody who's not my girlfriend, so I can't really give any advice on how to pick up random women, sorry. Yes, there are women who only want to date gaijin men. They can sometimes be pretty sketchy, though, so approach with caution. Not all of them, but some. You can usually tell from the start who is just looking for a gaijin one-night thrill ride.

Rough verbal encounters? Like arguing? Sure, I've argued with some ex's and friends before. I also argued with a rude person on the train who felt the need to spew shit for no good reason.

I live in an apartment. The rent for most apartment in a non-expensive area is about 60,000 yen per month, give or take.

>>10691407

Depends on where you live. In most places, it's not expensive at all. It's about the same as America once you consider the fact that most jobs here pay more on average. Things cost a bit more here, but you make more money at just about any job, even something like waiting tables.

Yes, "salary men" can sometimes work from 8AM to midnight. Overtime work is a common thing here and is barely rewarded. It's seen as a "necessary evil" of the work industry, which is riduculous, in my opinion.

I've met some men like that, but they were still young [under 30], so I don't think they count because even they will likely be seeking marriage once they near 30.

Moreover, most people meet their spouses through friends or in the workplace.

Well, that's how it was for the children students, anyway. When I teach adults, I always try to make sure they're making progress and will be able to use what I teach them.

>>10691472

Lewd shit is pretty openly exposed here. If you walk into a convenience store and look at the magazine rack, it's really obvious which magazines are intended for which audiences.

I've seen some minors peaking at lewd stuff, but most don't. I think.

If you go to places like Akihabara, big-boobed anime character posters are pretty common. It's no secret there.

What do you mean by "openly exploited"? In terms of "sex sells" kind of stuff? It's exploited quite a bit here. Not super blatantly, but any country with stuff like idol groups and gravure idols will have that sort of market and demographic.

They're usually exposed to a pre-constructed question/answer list that is translated into Japanese. For example, if they want to know the meaning of a word, they'll have a sheet to look at in case they forgot how to say: "What does this mean?" in English.

Many schools have a "No Japanese in class" policy in place, so you don't have to worry about that. I tend to use Japanese in class, though, because why spend 10 minutes trying to explain something when I can just tell them what it is in Japanese.

I am a graduate student of chemistry at the University of Tokyo. I am wondering how everyone deals with people in everyday situations that try to speak English with you. Myself, I am a French-Canadian so I usually tell people that I don't speak English very well but would happily converse in French if they speak it, which happens surprisingly frequently. Is there a more efficient way of dealing with this situation?

How is the status of western fast food popularity there? Shitaku keeps telling Japanese like KFC a lot.

Japanese people like KFC and a bunch of other fastfood too. There's no american style fast food in my town though, just gyudon and that kind of thing. Personally I like Mos Burger. Though the worst thing about Japanese fast food is they put little to no salt on the fries. At Mos if you ask for extra salt they'll usually do it, but at KFC their response is always there's no salt in the whole store...

I like to eat lunch at Nakau, local bakery, cocoichi, local soba place, and conbini junk. Probably gonna start packing stuff soon cause I'm getting fed up with the local selection.

Not gonna touch the girlfriend issue, sorry man.

I'm not OP.

The penalties for weed, as well as just about any other drug, are extremely high in Japan, including large fines and jail time for around a gram. I've met people at clubs who know it and smoke it, but they pretty much keep it to themselves and their close friends in the privacy of their apartment.

That being said, I've met some people who go out and smoke in public at night, as most people in Japan have never smelt weed, so they won't report it or anything.

It's very risky in Japan. Pills are far more popular at clubs as far as I know.

I found her by waiting around the front door of local middle school, and just asked for many student girls about buying their panties.

No one dared to reply, so I started to follow one of them when she was finished with the school. I walked behind her and grabbed her arm and asked nicely.

Now she sends me her soiled panties from time to time, I only have to mention her that I'm standing at the gates if she doesn't give me her panties anymore. She's 14.
