I'm a gaijin who lives in Japan. I taught English for 2 years while working towards my JLPT1 and then I immediately switched to a job in CS (got my CS degree in Canada before moving over there). Japan has many problems, but it's a pretty kickass experience overall.

I have massive yellow fever and Japanese girls LOVE white guys, I love arcades, I can visit Akiba when I feel like it (usually once every 1~2 months), etc. I recommend it to every depressed /jp/sie stuck in their home country. It won't fix everything for you but it sure as hell is a nice experience.

I tried to become a history teacher. It was awful because I realized teaching was nothing for me. I just liked history, but my performance in high school wasn't good enough to apply for a university to become a historian. After that, I tried law school, and I felt unmotivated so I dropped out after a year.

I'm currently looking into a programming course, but I never really programmed before.
