to escape the hell that was 07'-10' /a/ that consisted of 50% choose your own adventure threads and tons of people complaining about LNs, VNs, and touhou which weren't anime or manga despite choose your own adventure threads not being either of those anyways

then /a/ over time became more like /jp/ anyways
but /jp/ still keeps its niche uses as weeaboo/random and probably the closes thing we'll ever have to the entertaining hilariously dumb 4chan years

/a/ still gets used as a trash dump, because it has more readers so people who want to post trash threads post them there so they'll get seen by more people.

Also /jp/'s janitor is just waaay too good for their taste, their trash doesn't survive long enough here.

/jp/ is the misc. Japanese pop culture board, that's it, that's all. It's not actually supposed to be a garbage bag. Well, none of the boards are intentionally supposed to be toilets, even /a/, but, hey, you know.
