At my Melty locals, people are jerks. I have not once gotten advice after losing damn near 100 times in a row everyday to people who I know are good. It makes me so upset, but it is what it is. I've asked politely for advice, but people just give me some stupid bullshit like, "Stop being so shit, nerd." Of course, this is what I get for playing fighting games with black people in NJ.

P4A is about a hundred times more alive than Melty for a lot of reasons.

1) It's not a PC only game. Nobody likes carrying laptops around.
2) It's not a PC only game. Nobody likes having to restart the goddamn game to plug in a new stick.
3) It came out a lot more recently.
4) The netplay isn't shit. Netcode is better, there are lobbies and you don't need to FIND players to play with, you can just go online and immediately find people.
5) It's ArcSys AND it's Persona so it has the "renown" (as renowned as an anime fighter can be).
6) People stopped playing for a while but a lot of people picked it back up/started playing it once it was announced to be an EVO game.

I wish Melty wasn't dead, but it's dead as FUCK. Even BBCSEX is more alive than Melty and just about everyone dropped it because CP's coming out in a few months.

>> No.10620050

>>10620035
Once it exits EVO, everyone will drop it because it's too shallow and the novelty runs short.
The developers stopped giving a shit so long ago too. The reason it's only a tier above is because as soon as the tournaments stop happening it's going to go full Skullgirls and die in a flash

>> No.10620068

>>10620050
>The developers stopped giving a shit so long ago too.
It's not really that, it's just that no licensed ArcSys game has ever gotten a new iteration.

It'll be alive until ArcRevo in Japan and EVO in the US. Around that time, CP should come out on console and everyone will forget about P4A.

But none of that changes the fact that Melty is 100% dead as fuck and nothing will bring it back to life.

>> No.10620077

melty locals are only for northeast or california

Melty isn't nearly as dead as you think pal.
That's just your point of view.
And I've done a bunch to make it more alive which is slowly working. Passion is a good thing to have.

>> No.10620101

>>10620080
No scene has more than about 8 players for Melty and those are the biggest scenes. I think there are only 2 or 3 "alive" (I wouldn't even call it that) scenes. There are no more tournaments for it except the BigE/ShinBlanka tournaments because they're true bros to anime and nobody even shows up for those. None of what I said is my point of view, it's all objective facts.

>> No.10620115

>>10620101
Japan scene has numerous, and I mean probably close to 100 or more, active melty players.
socal has like more than 8. texas I think has more than 8. Tournaments are true but tournaments don't make a game dead.
Is it like UMvC3? nah but it's not like 100% dead and thinking like that is dumb in general unless you hate the game.

>> No.10620148

>>10620115
Obviously nobody's talking about Japan when talking about scenes, unless you have some kind of secret technology to play with Japanese players (don't say netplay).

SoCal has 8 players exactly but they aren't close enough to be a scene. 5 are close enough to play on a weekly basis.

Texas I have no idea but I'm willing to bet they don't have 8 players.

Netplay is dead, locals are dead and tournaments are dead. What's left?

>> No.10620149

The fact being, like when we had back then touhou hisouten netplay, there's always a bunch of pro-broken-combos people coming out of nowhere and starting to praise how godly they are/ how shitty you are / possibly both when they're on a roll.

It just kills the fun and usually beginners end up deserting that kind of thread for good after a while. So in the end you'll just find dumbasses coming from irc in them.

>> No.10620155

>>10620148
Netplay aint dead unless you live outside of NA/EU. Socal has at least 10 people if not more that and we keep finding more.
Like you keep talking about stuff but your numbers are wrong. It's like you skim meltybread once a month and think you know the scene. it's weird but i mean it wouldn't be too uncommon.

We had MBAC threads for over 2 years and MBAACC threads for a few months. We usually solved that by just saying what level we were in our hosting post and let the beginners fight each other (or at least warned them that they were going to get destroyed if they joined). It worked fine. The problem is that MBAACC's netcode is ass so more or less everyone stopped playing except for a few players here and there. I think a caster would possibly bring some life into it but we'll never know.

>All you concern yourself with is that it's not UMvC3.
Yes, wanting to play more than 3 people means I want it to have UMVC3 levels of popularity.

I assume you're in the kore wa melty group right now. Do a region census for me. Count the USW/USE/EU players and tell me how many different people each region can play with.

There's absolutely no point in me spending more time in Melty when there's no one to play with. That's what being dead means. I'll just keep playing BB/GG/P4A while waiting for CP.
