How do you rename your saved Touhou pictures? I need some ideas, because tagging takes forever especially when you have thousands of images. Partially thanks to /jp/, it's impossible to find anything specific in my Okuu folder anymore.

How are your subfolders named? I thought about doing that as well, but so many pictures could fit into multiple folders.

>> No.10597022

I don't.

I have a seperate folder for each Touhou.
I also separate these further with a Lewd folder inside of said folder for all NSFW pictures. I also have a "Throwaways" folder for pictures of lesser quality that I don't want cluttering up the original folder.

Note that the name "Throwaways" does not mean these are bad pictures, it's just a secondary folder for pictures that aren't as high a quality as the rest. I also usually make a second Throwaways folder inside this folder for even less quality pictures if I feel it is necessary. Prevents huge folders from happening.

If it's a truly exceptional picture, I put a ! in front of the file name so it will always show first at the top.

Ifranview.
Let it rename with numbers.

depends on the touhou. usually like cute, nsfw, lewd (sfw), cool, funny, multiple2hus. if not many pictures, you won't need many subfolders obviously. or if there's a huge amount of a particular theme (crazy Hina) make another one for that. i also kind of do this >>10597022
because i keep my absolute favorites in the main folder.

>>10597040
unrelated, can you slideshow images with irfanview? windows 7 slideshow thingy doesn't play GIFs which blows.

I save all in one folder and put the name according of what is happening in the picture.
This picture is an example.

>> No.10597062

I don't rename pictures, I put them into folders.

Usually that's enough, when the folders of my favorite touhous get unmanageable I go through them deleting pictures I don't like all that much after all which gets rid of at lest 3/4 of them.

I thought about making folders with names like that too, but what would you do about a picture that looks both cute and funny? Or cool and lewd? Or any combination of those things?

Also I remember seeing your filenames in Hina threads. What does that stand for anyway? I fucking love Hina?

>> No.10597088

I don't rename them. I just arrange them in different folders; by game appearance, or by household, or by pairings. Also sort pictures that don't fall in any other category in other folders called "gifs", "others", "cosplay" and "wallpapers". Lewd and non-lewd pictures go together as long they correspond to the same category.

I also have an "Else" folder for characters with little fanart, or for characters I don't like that much. Kasen started here, but now I need to make a folder just for her.

Current count is at 18,358 carefully selected pictures, not including manga, distributed in 23 folders.

And if you sort them using "last modification date" you can find what you search for without too much effort. It works for me at least. Base folder uses name sorting anyway, so folders keep always the same position.

But I spend more time organizing my folders than looking at the pictures inside them...

that's the dilemma, but usually i would put it into the smaller folder when i cant decide. if it is equally cute and funny, i would put it in the funny folder because i have a lot more cute images and it would be easy to find in there.

and yeah, i don't remember why i started numbering these, if there was a good reason.

That pisses me off. I gotta open gifs in Internet Explorer to view them.

I manually sort the images into folders with the Touhou's name, then wrote a script to rename them with the first name of the folder followed by the next consecutive number

You can also use ant renamer to... rename them as you wish.

Though, I prefer to keep the original filenames, as I tend to re-download pictures I forgot I had saved. And that's when I use alldup to check for duplicates, it has filename, size, byte-by-byte comparison, etc.

Both applications are free. Pretty handy.

i use visipics. it basically does an iqdb search on your folder to see if there are any dupes.

yeah, there has to be a decent third-party image viewer somewhere.

I use Bulk Rename Utility for mass renaming files. It's pretty damn useful, especially if I'm modding a game or something.

What readers do you use for all the doujin you stocked up? I have mostly zip and rar, but if it can read pdf would be neat.

I use MMCE 2.4

How much did sorting all of that take you?

>> No.10614341

>>10612327
I don't know.

When I find something worthwhile, I download it to a temporal folder in the desktop, then when I decide it's too full (about 400-500 pictures) I move them to the base folder of my 2hu folders and start arranging them.

It takes me like 10 minutes to drag each picture to its corresponding folder. Then another 2-3 minutes to check for duplicates. And as I always try to keep my stuff organized, it doesn't take long.

And makes fapping to a certain character / household extremely comfortable.

>> No.10615475

It would be easier to find things if you tagged them.

>> No.10615506

Is there any image tagging software for GNU/Linux? Right now everything's organised as: Cute -> Touhou -> <Character>
And inside of there there are pictures and a separate NSFW directory.

I kind of like the idea of having something like beets or Calibre for pictures but I don't know if it exists.

"Thankfully" I lost all of my cute pictures recently so I'm starting again and am going to make sure I do it properly this time.

I've tried everything in the past. I just download them as is into a single directory. Every day a script runs that deletes a random amount of images sorted by date modified.

Addressing the illness proved to be too difficult so instead I just ensure the symptoms are treated.

use vi to create a file in the format:

1363385673110.jpg 2hu okuu utsuho no_pants pillow
1363133750649.jpg 2hu okuu utsuho skirt egg tofu
etc.

use grep on the tags to find the image you want and pipe the output into your image viewer

>> No.10615814 [DELETED]

What are some easy to use and free programs that find and delete duplicate images?

>> No.10616360

I throw tags in front of the default file name, so 34278202 for example becomes "youmu apron knife 34278202" It's messy and kind of silly but I'm lazy and it means I can usually find what I'm looking for with a quick search. If I was to go back and start over though I'd probably include artist names, with the size of my folder now that would take forever.

>> No.10616382

>>10615716
Same except "for fapping" and "not for fapping". There's lots of SFW in the first folder.
