I do all of that too, it's just the damn beard that gives me hell. No matter what, I can't shave close enough to keep it from scratching. Once I was hugging it and moved my head slightly and I could hear every strand of hair scrape against my smooth daki. It didn't damage it at all but it was terrifying to hear. I also worry about blood. I actually cut myself once and didn't realize. It was a really tiny cut, but it still got a bit of blood on it. I quickly cleaned it and it came out completely. I would be very wary of cheap dakis. I have 2, one is a decent print on a soft standard pillow case that I barely dare wash because it's the same silk screening type stuff on T-shirts and will fade quickly.

The other is GODLY on some, I dunno, super fabric that I've washed many times with no chance of fading. I don't know what it is but goddamn it feels so nice. Paid out the ass for it though.

You guys are gonna boo and hiss but I recently went out on a limb and purchased a much sought after dakimakura at Hobby Heart. I was pricing them out to get a giant Reimu duvet cover made and decided to check out the quality of their product with a daki.

I went all out and got the 2-way Tricot for $60 and the product I received was pretty much indistinguishable from an original. Very nice.

On a side note, be careful ordering clothes from them because their sizing is fucked up and YES, I know that Eastern sizing is much smaller than Western. The quality, though, like the daki, was very nice.

Ordered mine from Hobby Heart, and I'm about to order another due to excessive wear on one side after a year. I used to not shave at night until it started happening a few months after I got her. Now I shave and test my nails lightly to see if they are going to damage her before bed every night.

That's not really that surprising. The last time someone ordered two 5000 yen pillows for me from D-stage, the shipping cost them 8,000 yen for EMS. Most pillows are compressed and folded well, so that when you open the air-tight seal they're in, they expand (I don't even know how it works but seeing them inflate is pretty cool, and they smell great too when just opened). The packages are still fairly big though, so that's why the shipping costs a lot. Luckily I got my last ones as a gift and didn't have to pay for any of it.

Any tips on good sleeping positions with dakimakuras? I have trouble falling asleep when hugging mine, and if I just lie beside her, there's so little space in my bed that I wake up with a fatigued back from the awkward sleeping position. I have 2 main sleeping and cuddling positions. I sleep or cuddle with half my body on her or vice versa, Hugging her with my hand on her head and my other on her waist. This only works though if you naturally are able to sleep on the side.
Spooning also works well, but not for sleeping.

I don't always sleep in the same position though. Sometimes I'm on my back, sometimes my stomach, or my side facing either side. I move around a lot in my sleep. Another thing is, that even though I have a queen sized bed, I sleep closer to the edge, like when I had a twin bed, particularly the right edge. The problem with this is that sometimes I knock her off the bed when I sleep with her on that side.

I bought mine originally from Hobby Heart, but it sucked bad and was horrible. Stuffing clumped up, and didn't fill it. Outside would make tons of noise.
I then got one at nearby bedding store, but it was too short.
Now that I got some money, I'm getting a Cospa one from HLJ. From what I hear, that's the pillow to get.

For covers I would recommend the normal retail sites for them if your waifu has an official one. HSJ, AmiAmi, ect.
For unofficial ones, I can personally recommend HobbyHeart.

For inserts, besides going to Walmart and getting one that doesn't really fit, Cospa's insert is the best.

How do most people sleep with their daki? I used to only sleep on my stomach, but ever since I got my first daki I learned how to sleep on my side and I sleep a lot better now because of it. Before I couldn't sleep on my side at all because I couldn't find a comfortable position for my arms or legs, but mostly my arms. I'd sometimes used to wake up with a sore or cramped arm because of my other arm or head was resting on it.
