It's symbolizing the veins, nerdlords, when you get angry, your headveins get bigger because of blood and whatnot, some art has it more stylized (see OP), but in general it's pretty close to the original enlargened veins of an angry human being.

The scalp and forehead are full of veins and arteries. The primary ones run down the center of the forehead -not off to the side.

I don't believe there's any veins that form that exact configuration on the forehead.
