Koreans are really strong weeaboos. It's strong enough to the point where you have korean light novels like Clotaku Club which was written by a korean otaku for other korean otaku.

As far as japanese MMOs, there really aren't very many to begin with and most don't have the cash to afford anime promotional items. I think PSO2 probably has Hatsune Miku, considering it's Sega, that's about the only thing I can think of.

PSO2 is pretty damn awesome actually. The Japanese version has been handling the cash shop pretty well, and they came through with their promise of updates.

There are so few MMO titles from Japan because MMO's are still predominately PC titles, and PC gaming is extremely niche in Japan.

I'm playing Tera now that it's F2P.
When I tried it in open beta I found it really boring and unimpressive gameplay wise, but everything else was very well done. The scenery especially was very beautiful. Now that I'm trying it again, to be honest I'm really loving it. It's become addicting even. I have a nice small group of friends to play it with, so maybe that's why I'm so into it. I can see how playing it alone after a few days might get boring. But Tera actually isn't as bad as I used to think it was.

TERA flopped really badly, there was a lot of effort put into it, however they lost too much money and they still have two different servers for full f2p instead of merging and stopping the whole regional bullshit. Hence why it's called TERAtanic.

Anyone can do WoW tier costumes for cute characters anyway. I also have a lot more to look forward in B&S rather than just cute kemono girls stealing the show and nothing else worth mentioning at all.

The Final Fantasy MMOs worked pretty well for that, but I'm not sure if XIV 2.0 will have global servers again. Either way it will be possible to play on Japanese servers. It's very buggy and somehow has no options whatsoever, there's an intense framerate drop in many areas with a really high end PC.

Gameplay itself is like a overly simplified, but at the same convoluted version of Mebius. Instead of picking a Class in name like any other normal MMO, you pick a focus on stats, based on that you receive starting weapons and change them with f button.

Also, customization is so poor, pretty much everyone has the same horns and robes as me.

Well, I wouldn't say unique but the art and the music are nice, and I'm assuming without all the lags the combat system might be somewhat enjoyable.

The animations are pretty bad though, fighting the boss of the tutorial which is a huge dragon with a few heads and when he turns around instead of actually turning he just snaps and changes his angle.

It has that rather cheap feeling Cyberstep games tend to have if that's what you mean.

I was under the impression that PSO2 was going to be linked together. Ie. you can select the language you want for the game using the client, and there will be ships dedicated to English speakers, ect.

It seems to be a generic thing for otaku to do, but considering at least the doujin side of thing, most they play seem to be Korean. RO, Mabinogi, TERA, those all get lots of art. It might be because the west can['t tag the JMMO things, but I get the feeling only PSO and FF11 are popular in terms of things considered actual MMOs and Japanese.

Some MMOs do occasionally get anime though. Master of Epic was apparently popular enough to get an anime. Made it seem kind of fun too. Too bad Japan onry.

If you haven't even played this game then your argument is going nowhere. You haven't seen the shit I've seen. It's really ridiculous and unnaturally frustrating to play for an Action RPG, which is quite different from what RO1 is.

There's also a few "instanced" areas, but there are fewer in this game than any other combined, you're supposed to spend quality time outside doing nothing but getting KSed.

You know what the worst part is? Even if you form a Party with someone else...you WILL get KSed. Kills from another player in your Party do NOT count towards your xp or total quest counts, you NEED to kill them yourself. In RO1 you actually had a individual xp or share setting for party, which also helped when you needed to do repeatables, and believe me, if you played around x1 XP rate, those quests were OBLIGATORY.

In this game, all the quests seem to give piss poor XP and they're just there to see more dialogue lines from Story, receive items and maybe new partners/pets, which is very generic Japanese mythology stuff. You can get as much XP from ever getting kills.

How do you even deal with being online let alone on 4chan? Being in any public situation exposes you to that. If you want a happy little world for you and your bestest buds, just play a multiplayer online game, not a massively multiplayer online game.

No, not really. You're just playing with people who suck shit most likely. Berserkers are the best DPS, followed by sorcerer, and all of the other DPS do very well if they're played right. Priests are much better than mystics at healing, but mystics are better at support; both can heal all PvE content just fine. It's just that most people who play support are absolutely terrible and it would lead you to believe that priests are better because of their vast healing ability, when mystics come out on top for their contribution to DPS. Lancers are amazing though, I'll give you that. They can solo a good portion of the endgame content if their gear is up to snuff and have the ability. Warriors are good tanks too, but they have far less room for error than lancers do, and most new people who play warrior are going to be an abysmal tank and have their shit slapped until they learn boss mechanics.

And what do you mean by 70% of the community using classes that people seem to be good with? As in, 70% of the community uses the "best" classes, or 70% of the community plays what they're best at, or 70% of the community seemingly limits themselves so they can be a class in high-demand?

Unless they've really rebalanced classes since I last played, berserkers are the worst dps class in TERA, or at least in the bottom 2. Top all around is still sorc and slayer is a very close second. Warriors can do great dps at higher levels but they are very gear dependent. Archers are at the bottom with berserkers. Really, warriors, archers, and berserkers are pretty close in dps. It's just that slayer and sorc are too good. Sorc with their aoe damage and slayers are just broken.

Priests are better at healing but lancers are so easy to tank with you don't even need all of a priests heals. A party would much rather have a mystic's utility, and that plus critical is really nice. I remember at level 60 some priests were having trouble getting groups because they wanted a mystic instead.

There was a 1gb patch but that was for tera going f2p. Those speeds aren't normal. You can try exiting the launcher and then starting the download again. My download speed doubled when I did that.

It is now berserker > sorcerer > slayer > warrior > archer. Slayers aren't top tier like they used to be, berserkers mop the floor with them in damage.

Priests are better for learning content and mystics are better for farming content. Priests and lancers give way more room for error when learning difficult dungeons because the lancer doesn't need to watch their resolve all the time and can sustain more damage, and priests have way more "oh shit" heals than mystic.

Off the top of my head, thunder strike hits one time for extra big crits instead of a small hit and then a slightly larger hit, overcharging drastically increases damage output, you can chain flatten out of staggering strike, you can cancel cyclone with block, and you can now chain vampiric blow out of overcharged attacks that covers most of the cost of overcharging and hits fairly high. Every class just got some PvP rebalancing with the addition of 3v3s, and archer got some buffs that really help in PvE, namely, Rain of Arrows now casts faster (I don't have the increased cast speed glyph but it casts in maybe 1 second now), final salvo, rapid fire and arrow now restore much more mana, and the stances no longer drain mp. It really helps, but I still feel like I do a pittance of damage compared to my zerker and sorc, but I feel like I can do better damage than my warrior and my slayer. I'll have to do some more testing on it. Archers shine more in PvP than they do in PvE, but they're still fine as PvE DPS.

And berserkers are laughable in 1v1 PvP but are very good in group. They're one-shot wonders if somebody is brain damaged enough to get hit by one.
