Jun Maeda is a terrible writer, all of his female characters are cliche'd pity cases as opposed to people you can actually empathize with. His prose is so flowery that it would make the shittiest of landwhale fanfiction writers vomit. And the art is pure eye cancer.

Sakurai and Jun Maeda write very different things so it's natural a fan of one wouldn't be a fan of the other.

It all boils down to taste in the end. Inganock was the WAB title I liked the least (not saying that it isn't good), and the Refrain section in Little Busters along with flashes in Rin and Saya's routes were the only things I've liked to come from Jun Maeda or Key as a whole.

This probably being the main reason I don't like him. His treatment of the heroines are so unnerving to read. They're usually what, sixteen, but act as if they're ten. Nagisa being a prime example here. The other Key writers aren't that better. But there are people who like that sort of thing, so more power to them. I'm a fan of Sakurai but there are people who no doubt can't stand her writing due to quirks like the repetition and characters going all introspective during h-scenes.

It hasn't. I've admittedly only read about an hour of it so I can't really comment on its quality, but it's one of the definitive horror titles in the medium. It even served as an inspiration for more well known titles like Higurashi and Fate's Heaven's Feel route.

That's probably the reason I've been liking it so far (going through my first play-through as we speak). The only other Key works that I've liked were Clannad (but only because I could related to the main character due to daddy issues) and Planetarian.

I really wish that I could get into VNs and eroge that aren't from major publishers, but I don't know nearly enough Japanese to read one.

Takeru called her "尊い存在" which literally translated means "precious being". Ixrec's translation might be a bit bumpy, but I don't think it's worth all the fuss.

Still, he's a subpar translator and it really shows when he lays his hand on writing-oriented titles like Sekien no Inganock or Cross Channel.

Kusarihime is all atmosphere. It does some really interesting things with its cast, which as first glance is horribly one dimensional and even annoying, they all have a certain depth that really makes them feel human. Kiriko for example did a full 180 for me.
The ending is a bit of a clusterfuck in concepts, but the execution is not that bad.
