Here is a picture of the bed I made. I was originally planning to copy the look of an Ikea bed, but my woodworking neighbor insisted I do something more fancy. He did the carving, and I did the rest of the construction. My mom made some quilts, but I don't have a picture yet.

And here is a picture with the table. The vase and serving tray are also home made on the wood lathe.

I did a bit of router work on the edges of the table to make it look fancy. An even more basic table will look good and is very easy to make, especially if you're going to paint it a solid color. Figure out your sizes, then cut a top and four legs, glue it together, sand it, paint it, and you're done.

A bookcase should be straightforward. A desk shouldn't be any more difficult, as long as you don't need working drawers. A couple of rectangles that look like the face of drawers will look good enough for the illusion to work.

Don't hesitate to look around in the toys section at your local department store. Some various doll stuff is cheap and just about the right size.

Question for dollfie dream owners.

I'm looking to buy a DD doll. Due to budget and other constraints I plan to have only 1 doll.

Should I go for the regular sized dollfie dream or the mini dollfie dream? I've found faces that I pretty much like equally that I can buy. One would make for a good regular sized girl and one for a loli.

Is the regular DD body or MDD body easier to care for and shop for? Which would you recommend for a first time owner and as an only doll?

DD size is more popular and therefore you will find more clothing for it.

DD vs MDD they're about the same to be honest, but the MDD will suffer from more pose holding strength problems.

I don't own an MDD body but some people say the knees can buckle but that can be fixed by installing Kips or opting for other bodies like the Obitsu p40.

I would personally recommend just getting a DD body for a first time owner because you'll have less hassle.

If you're only getting one doll, I suggest going with a regular DD body.

No only are there A LOT more clothing options, but you could always buy a head that words for both, and just buy a MDD body later.

Also, the presence of a Dollfie Dream in a room is so commanding, because of their size. I feel like the MDD is just doesn't have such a presence.

I personally like the DD and the DDdy. There's a lot of optional parts/clothes for them on YAJ. Only problem is their clothes can get kinda expensive. On average they go for around $80-150

Where do you guys get furnitures for your DDs? I looked on google and doll furnitures in that size range seem to be pretty expensive, especially the pimp kind shown in this post's picture.

Am I looking in the wrong places or can I just expect to shell out a lot for a nice sofa for a DD to sit on?

Doll furniture is expensive, especially cushioned victorian pieces.

I've said it before in these threads, but Dollmore.net is a GREAT resource for cheap doll accessories and clothing. While the furniture isn't the cheapest, you can get some pieces for significantly less than other dealers, and the cute cushions they sell for beds/sofas are only a few dollars each.

It just comes down to what you want in a dollfie. You either want to create an adult or child-like character. I decided to skip that and go with a character dollfie, MDD Cirno. She uses the new MDDIII body which eliminated the standing issues of the OG MDD's so posing is a not an issue.

I purchased two character model DD's. Their personality/uniqueness only came into being after I had begun experimenting with different wigs and clothing.

I think it's neat to see someone's character concept come into being, but I really enjoyed letting my girl's develop their own characters after owning them and seeing what accessories fit their persona.

I am about to make my own, fallowing the "Yoshida style Ball joined doll making"
I chose to reproduce the "Children of the Sky (Skyrim) body (Flat) with muscle map (ifyouknowwhatimean)" but adapt it to keep the Volks's Super Dollfie 13 measurements.
I spent 150 euros to get everything i need to get that body (not painted)
I have to say, making a 60cm ball joined doll is intimidating.
I wish myself luck alright.

You see the odd post with someone criticizing how much dolls cost because the materials involved in the manufacture would not total up close to the dolls end cost. They forget that there are many hours of work involved in actually making the doll.
