s biggest failing feature was that although it had an ok story to cover, most of it had nothing to do with your party as well as the party getting very little dialogue and character development and that the final explanation ends up being basically being that jenova, seph, and hojo are fucking retarded and evil

and the secret agents that were chasing you most the game also lacked development and closure

the game as a whole seems like the writers lacked time and it would've benefited greatly from scenes like in tales or from something happening every time you enter a town like ff10 just to make your characters feel like people instead of people that fight random battles
