I've been playing Bunny Black. The Wiki tells me that human units will start to join me after I kill 160 of them/each one and I raise a few levels. Why hasn't this happened? Does it only happen after the release event?

I don't use it for translation, but I do use TA for kanji readings. I know the words, just not how to read them. I am working on improving my kanji though.

If you aren't convinced just try to play a game with ATLAS. You will realize the folly.

The people who use translation aggregator are ignorant and/or desperate - you cannot read and enjoy a VN with the level of machine translation technology we have now. You at the very least need a firm grounding in basic grammar before you can even begin. Vocabulary and idioms can be picked up along the way.

So I started playing Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi, so far what I expected for better or worse.

Well except for Ayumu, what an incredibly adorable little brother. His moe outshines the heroines.

I learned Japanese in university. Honestly, with the amount of misinformation about the language and languages in general out there, I don't think I'd have the level of understanding that I do now if I had learned it by myself from internet resources or something. Also, having some training in linguistics helped.

Personally I started casually studying a couple years a go for the sake of VNs and raw manga. All self-taught, but I never really "studied". I read a few books like Japanese the Manga Way and Tae Kim's guide to Japanese but most stuff I picked up on through context etc. Never studied kanji. Now I'm at the level where I can read most VNs fine, with things like chuuni or mecha I usually use ith to look up unknown kanji.

I read through it again, and you were absolutely right. Don't know how I missed this the first time around. It is unfortunate that the ending manages to spoil the other routes too, but I guess it was all there anyway. For example, I haven't read through Nozomi's route yet but I can already see the relation between her and the crow.

Oh, Koyori. I've taken a real shine to her but there's something about the girl which unnerves me more than the rest of the characters, save for Hitomi himself. The walkthrough I'm following has put her last so I'm guessing there'll be something big in her route. Haven't really had much interaction with her yet though, besides her introductory scene, a scene towards the end with her shooting Hitomi, and her little talk with him about his dream of world domination.

No, those work in so far as allowing you to actually install the game and run it, it's just that they don't account for minori's anti-Gaijin measures as I'm fairly sure the crack and keygen were made by the Japanese so most of them don't even have to worry about that.

Going through Sachi's route in Kajitsu now, despite the fucking suffering (like in every other route), I'm really enjoying it. Might shape up to be my favourite so far.

Just finished Rakuen's trial.

Some of these "revelations" seem rather asspully. A bit of a genre shift to introduce cloning and half human computers this late, though I was obviously expecting some kind of "twist" with Kazuki. Felt a bit same with Oslo in Meikyuu who didn't really receive any foreshadowing whatsoever (in Kajitsu) before his actual reveal.

It'll probably be a worthwhile read but I'm not really expecting some timeless classic.

Grisaia kajitsu can be considered as entirely fluff as it's fully self contained (even if it leaves some questions unanswered). However in light of the genre shift into the grand story line (meikyuu + rakuen) it's not really all fluff as quite a few events are specifically mentioned (from different routes), particular vis the relationships between the characters. I would say kajitsu is about 20 hours or so?

Not the same guy but:

Kajitsu is pretty much works perfectly on it's own save for the big revelation in Amane's bad ending and some other hints here and there. Long common route with good humor and the drama is concentrated on the heroine routes. Routes are by different writers so you really notice the notch in quality sometimes.

Meikyuu is sort of a fan disc / sequel to Kajitsu. It has After Stories for each heroine's good ending, extra joke / H scenes with side characters and the Grand Route, which makes it's own continuity where in canon all the heroines' problems were solved but the protagonist didn't end up with anyone. It has much more extra content than actual plot, which consists mostly of Yuuji's flashbacks.

Rakuen picks up straight from Meikyuu Grand Route's cliffhanger ending, and is supposedly when the shit gets real.

Well Gakhtun is a given, personally I think it has the potential to be the best in the series.
Hyakki Yakou is good so far too, at least gameplay wise.
It's basically a RTS but you can also control the units directly and fight yourself. Story-wise I can't say much so far though.

I also did a bit of Suigetsu 2. I like the mood it has since it reminds of Hateshinaku/Atori but it's wait and see for now.
Except for taking place in the same world, it seems to have nothing to do with the first Suigetsu though (and it seems to be the main complain people have about it). I'll dive deeper into it later.

There is Perseus, I just started it. Well it looks good at least but based on every impressions I've seen it's just a glorified nukige.
And there is the new Debonosu that seems pretty bad

Finished Ren's route in Perseus
It was really short and inconsequential, the ending itself still ripped Sora off which is pretty amusing since you can feel the desperation of Minori.
Anyways only read it if you want ero, it fails at everything else.
No way in hell I'll read the other routes myself since the rest of the heroines are horrible.

Back to Suigetsu 2 for now, I'm actually liking it.
The writer seems to like writing huge lines that never end, remind me a bit of Oretsuba.
I have one problem with this though, the mouths that flap without any voice, it's really creepy. The flapping mouths and voices are absolutely not synchronized.

I was kind of expecting something in the FD, but we got nothing. I'd have much rather seen M teasing a flustered Mary than some background story of the worst pairing (Churchill and Viola). In my opinion, even if it's is known for its good comedy etc, the best moege is the one that have a heroine that appeals to you. If you don't particularly like any heroines then it's not worth playing, since cute heroines are the entire point of moege.
