It takes me long as hell to even look at possible hands I could have (Not to mention the fact that I miss many opportunities with my hands, and don't know any yaku). I dont even bother looking at my opponents discards because I dont have time

Yeah. If you can, try playing somewhere without timed turns until you learn a lot of the hands and start being able to read discards. You know you're ready for 10 second turns on tenhou when you can glance at your hand after deal and know exactly what you're going to do with it.
