What I know, is that TLwiki once tried to translate Caucasus, they were given a notice from innocent grey and they stoped all the work (and deleted their beta translation link).

I don't know which team tried to translate KNS first, but when mangagamer bought the license and promised to release it in english, they stopped immediately.
Innocent grey even had to remake some aspect of the engine to adapt it (it was something related to the notebook system).

You can look at it yourself, no team has ever translated one of their visual novel.

So I suppose say mangagamer is somehow necessary.
