I'm quite disappointed in you, /jp/
There's only been like two posts about Majo no ie. (aka The Witch's House)

I am therefore led to the conclusion that you guys are only pretending to like doujin games.

I've recently played The Witch's House for the first time.
It's fucking depressing, but I liked it.
I've heard anons saying that the normal ending is okay, but there is a true ending that is REALLY disturbing. I've got two endings(with the knife and without it), and they're almost the same, the second one only has an additional dialogue.
Have I missed something?

>> No.10159137

Yes, you missed something.

The true ending reveals that the girl and the witch swapped bodies. When you woke up in front of the mansion, you were already the witch.

>> No.10159589

>>10159536
Oh I think I get it. In the ending where you get the knife Viola must have said "み" which can mean both body and knife then leading you to think that Ellen is asking Viola to give back her knife. The translation literally says she will not give her "body" back instead of just saying something vague like "I'm not giving it back to you". I could be wrong though.

That has probably become acceptable usage in American English now.
They like desecrating the English language so much that they now spell everything with a 'z'. I think it was because the people who left for America were illiterate and it slowly became acceptable.

I am not one to give any sort of shit about fictional characters, usually.

But something happened in my brain when the dad shot viola. I think the idea that the witch betrayed Viola despite Viola offering to help kind of set me off.

Call me a faggot or whatever, but just grabbing some ignorant person off the street is one thing, but betraying someone who offered to help you, or wanted to do something, (clearly anything if she was willing to trust the witch to switch bodies) just really hurts to really think about.

and then I even got the secret ending.(I tried REALLY hard not to slam the bitch into a trap after watching the true end.) only to discover that nothing had really changed.

I wish I could forget I played this game.

Isnt it the sign of a good story when it affects you emotionally, though? I "hate" the ending too, but at the same time, it was thrilling, and it was different from your usual happy ending.

I know. it's a feeling that pulls me in two directions.

However, there's a thing that some writers like to do where they fuck their own characters for the sake of shock + anger, and nothing more.
While I won't make the claim that the creator of the game did such a thing, I feel like they could have done Viola SOME justice, instead completely fucking her.

Although I enjoyed the game, I must disagree with you. WH has great things (like the story and the scary atmosphere), and Yume Nikki has other great things (like the feeling that you could wander endlessly without going twice through the same place or the weird atmosphere that was actually not trying to be scary). They are not the same thing. People should stop comparing thing to YN just because they have a creepy atmosphere and are made in RPGMaker.
>>10159708
That's unlikely. The witch clearly says something like "I'm surprised you could trap me with my own powers", implying that when you begin the game, the Witch was already trying to scape and Viola had set everything. Some of the traps were probably there from the time Viola went to the witch, though.

Yume Nikki has a story, but it's a story you have to piece together and interpret yourself. A lot of media (particularly art films) try to do this and come off as stupid, but I think Yume Nikki did it right. Your playthrough and thoughts on Yume Nikki may be completely different to everyone else's.

This game, however, is just an ordinary A -> B game. It's fun, but I don't think comparing it to Yume Nikki is fair. They're different types of games, even if they're both a bit spooky and made with RPG Maker.

Oh god dammit PewDiePie.

You know it'd just take one video of him trying to play Touhou to quadruple the number of secondaries.

To be honest I don't think you would have been able to figure it out even if you were lucky to have stumbled upon the wall text, because it required some tricky algebra that's on a level of thinking a bit higher than you are capable of.

I of course had no trouble with it.

AND THEN A SKULLETON POOPED OUT. RUN AROUND IN CIRCLES BEFORE IT GETS YOU.
Then you go and do something else and come back to the area.
AND THEN A SKULLETON POOPS OUT. RUN BEFORE IT GETS YOU.

I eventually tried backtracking to the pot corridor to the skull room and then TWO SKULLETONS POOPED OUT, TRAPPING AND KILLING ME.

honestly this game is 2lame4me

This game is too dark and edgy for me. I thought there would be a tea party at the end.

Thanks for bringing this game to my attention, /jp/. That was a fun night's playthrough.

Going for the bonus ending now and I have a dumb question: I know you can't save with the cat if you want this end, but can you talk to him at all and still qualify? I was wondering if I can talk to him or if I should just ignore him altogether.
