Also ixerc picking rewrite really makes everything seem so slow, thankfully maybe he will pick a bit shorter games now and vns will come out faster. rewrite is freakishly long though, so even for him its gonna take a while. Ive been waiting for steins gate this whole year and it would of changed of how i looked at this year. if you think about it this year had no good story vns translated. I play it almost like an arcade game: I turn the music to the max and I bump into monsters at full speed until I'm satisfied.

Daybreak hasn't had an update since 2010, Cartagra hasn't updated since May of last year, Muramasa only slightly less, Sensei Daisuki and TH2 haven't updated since mid 2011 either, Angel and Pia Carrot's last update were January, and Parfait is essentially never.

I'm also pretty sure that Seinarukana's not expected to be done by the end of the year anymore.

This is actually true, fwiw. The language in PSP games tends to be really easy and you don't have the tempting crutch of machine translators so you absorb more of the language.

Higurashi Daybreak has been kept thus far since Gundam Ace has had himself listed as a translator for it.
Cartagra I'll probably purge at some point, but it's been on there longer than others since it at least had an initial translation complete.
Muramasa will remain since it seems Makoto still plans to finish it.
Sensei Daisuki seemed to be still alive last I checked with someone involved with the project.
To Heart 2, while slow, still seems to be an alive project based on what the translator has said (so it's not a dead project at this time at least).

From what I gather, legit customers don't even see the EXE in question because it's wrapped in the DRM'd EXE they run, which unpacks the EXE in question somewhere deep in the file system (under the (random?) name consisting of exactly 8 0..9 and A..F symbols if the game passes the DRM check) and runs the game from there.
So renaming the original EXE shouldn't matter, it's the name of the unpacked EXE that matters.
That said, playing with hackers is a slippery slope, and I hope that MG won't accidentally cross the line.

It happens over and over again. Basically, there is an inverse correlation between the time it takes for a game to get cracked and the popularity of a game among serious fans. I can't give out actual numbers, but the game did a fair bit better than expected based on pre-order amounts. For what it's worth, referrals through erogedownload's referral account drove some extra sales too. We do actually see a substantial drop in sales once a crack is released; The earlier the crack gets out, the worse it is for us. I don't hate pirates personally, the majority of our customers were there at some point, but it does make it hard to do business. If we approach a company for a new game and they say "the sales you have aren't enough to justify the work", that's an issue.

I don't intend to get into an escalation with hackers, annoying them or pirates (non-paying fans) isn't a good long term strategy. Boob wars was an interesting case since it had simple gameplay, I did try to prevent it from being too annoying, but if I did do it again it probably wouldn't be anything worse than a 'please buy it' notice. I don't have any control over the base drm, but based on how quick Cudder wrecked it it's not very good.

I think the way Boob Wars did it is one of the best ways to do it; make piracy a viable but inferior alternative to buying. Part of the reason I bought Skyrim after pirating it was the fact that combat from a mount was added (my pirated version was an older one where you were completely defenseless while on a horse) and Steam has a very easy way to find and install mods. I played quite a bit into Himegari when it was new. But I feel like the gameplay was far more constrictive than that of Kamidori.
Sure it's essentially the same when you are dungeon crawling and all, but the options you have outside of the dungeons are slim in comparison, and all in all you don't get as much to customize in and out of battles, which ends you with less options overall.

I am not sure if that changes in Himegari some time further in, but it feels like Kamidori, except far more streamlined.

OVH's networks are currently being worked on, and as a result no American can download more than 2MB in one request without slowing to an unforgivable crawl. You can avoid most of the rape, obtain a lot of law points to be lawful good and go for the princess route which is pretty good.

Having law, chaos or neutral sides was preetty good also this change the behavior and the ending for Lily. I miss a lot of this things in Kamidori.
