Peril can be really interesting. I wouldn't say it's a "thing" of mine, but if I stumbled across a really good story or art involving it, especially if it was combined with something I already like, I definitely wouldn't say no. The idea of impending death is actually really scary to me, so seeing someone in a position where they're coming really close to death gives me a serious fear rush - the kind where you're terrified, but you can't bear to look away.

I would say that a minor caveat is that if it ends up badly for them, I'm probably going to be really unhappy, though...I'd hate to make it so predictable in that "well you know they're gonna make it out okay", but, well, seeing my favorite character struggle for an entire story just to fail isn't exactly going to be a satisfying experience.

Related: A long time ago I randomly had a concept for a story involving Remilia capturing Youmu and torturing her. It wasn't a kink-fic, so I wasn't getting off on it, don't worry, but just the fact that the idea came to mind seriously unsettled me. Torture is something that seriously freaks me out and I can barely even bear the mention of it (except tickle-torture, that's awesome), and Youmu's a favorite character of mine.

Then I realized - I didn't want to write it to show Youmu being tortured, I wanted to write it to show her being strong through the ordeal and never giving in, giving Remilia a big middle-finger and showing that she wouldn't be broken so easily. Somehow I just completely lost my focus, and it was interesting to get a handle on it.
