So /jp/, how many of you actually conceal your power levels?

It seems to be a heavily practiced ritual on 4chan, however personally i've never had the need to do so. I'm well into life (23), live an ordinary social life, and reveal my power level to the point that I am playing Weiss Schwarz in the student buildings of my local university with some mates.

TL:DR; how many of you honestly try and conceal your power level, and why?

My ringtone is the Four Heavenly Knights' theme from MGQ.
My text alert is Okuu's reactor klaxon.
My background is a huge folder that cycles through mostly anime or touhou pictures.
I have a Madoka keychain attached to my wallet.

Hiding your powerlevel is for insecure faggots who are trying to make friends that don't like what they like.

No one on /jp/ leaves the house enough to do something like that. Well, most anyway. I personally haven't left the house in almost four years.

>> No.9924426

I prefer to mostly conceal it, though I don't hide it once I get to know people. I do it because I don't like wading through the stereotypes that are associated with "those anime kids" - I find that people are less likely to make stupid assumptions if they know me first.

>> No.9924423

I don't really care. My shelf is full of figures, and people know that I speak japanese. But I just tell them about japanese because I like to teach them a bit about the language itself. Generally, I like to teach people about stuff.

I do too.
I find it odd that people complain about things like this (it's not like it smells). I find it even odder when people complain to me about things like this. I point out that I wear the same jacket every day as well, and they usually respond with "it's different". I don't get it /jp/, what's different?

Conceal at all cost. Anything it takes. None must know. It's a very thin line between /jp/sie and an outstanding /mlp/ faggot, and leave it to normals to make the mistake.

What's the point of doing this sort of thing?

Always be true to yourself. Putting on a fake personality does nothing but hurt you. How can you ever be happy if you live your entire life pretending to be someone else?

I don't want friends, but if I did want friends then I wouldn't hide anything about my personality. They would either like me or they wouldn't and if they don't then obviously we wouldn't have been a good match and I would be better off finding other friends who I have more in common with.

Why do people try to hide their personality? It makes no sense.

Well, it depends on what your personality is.
People with a serial killer's mentality find it necessary to hide it because all of the normals think that if you have the mind of a serial killer, then you are bound to become one.
And if you actually are one, then it is even more important that you hide it, or you won't be one for long.

Like I said, it's not that I'm afraid of showing them who I am. I just don't want to have to deal with unnecessary misunderstandings. It is correct to say that people don't give a shit about my hobbies, but they DO jump to some pretty odd conclusions if they find out about the hobbies too early. I find these assumptions obnoxious, and it tends to strain my ability to put up with the person making them. I control how much they know about me in order to make my life easier.

I also don't want to be that guy who talks endlessly about the things he likes to people who don't give a rat's ass -- I'd rather try and find common ground if they're not interested.

>Everyone will think

Why does that matter? People can think whatever they want, it's not your problem.

At the end of the day the only opinion that matters is your own opinion. What everyone else thinks of you is meaningless. You just follow your heart and you do what you want to do in life, some people might hate you and other people will be able to relate with you and become your friends.

It all works out in the end. The people you can relate with will spend time with you and the people that you can't relate with won't want to spend time with you.

In high school, I figured a way around the lock on our computers so I could run Rapelay on it.
Then I added it to the schoolwide system's default file list so that that night it would add it to all of the computers.

It's fine to do what you want to do, but life is actually much easier when people like you. Even if you only see them when you have to go to the store to buy groceries once a month, if the people in close proximity to you don't have any reason to dislike you, you're much safer and less likely to be bothered.

I enjoy being the incredibly boring guy that nobody has anything against and never leaves his room.
