Post your IP if you are hosting followed by world location (with continent and area is ok, I.E Western europe) and your own tier if you feel like to.

About the game:

(shamelessly copied from the wiki)

Touhou Hisoutensoku is the third fighting game in the Touhou Project and like its predecessors, Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Touhou Hisoutensoku is a collaboration between ZUN and Twilight Frontier. Due to that collaboration, its art was drawn by Alphes and the music was composed by U2 Akiyama, both from Twilight Frontier.

Download link:

Hisoutensoku + 1.10 patch + english patch:

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6424899/Touhou_Hisoutensoku_12.3___1.10___English_Patch

For playing online it's recommended to have the latest version, 1.10a which you can find the patches for here:

http://hisouten.koumakan.jp/

SWR + English patch:

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6512402/Touhou_10.5_Scarlet_Weather_Rhapsody___ENG

Optionally there is also a Voice mod found here:

http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Voice_Mod_for_SWR_and_Hisoutensoku

Before playing online please close any process that uses bandwith to avoid lag, also try to play with people close to your area if possible.

Also vote on this if you want.

Bumping!

I've been improving my Iku game, lately, mostly trying to weed out my bad habits and learning to combo more reliably by playing arcade mode in my offtime, and practicing with friends who are better than me.

I want to pick up Yukari is an alternate. Right now my deck is 4 Bound to the Grave, 4 raiments, 4 strike talismans, 3 Chen, 3 Ran, and 2 border between 2d and 3d. I'm still trying to work out basic combos, and trying to find ways to make her 421b/c work. They seem really unsafe in most circumstances, but I'm guessing they work well when you can predict where your opponent is going to be, and that they're not going to have bullets there?

I'm pretty sure it only grazes, it doesn't have any invincibility like a proper DP, but I see 623b as being really good for punishing overhead danmaku and attempts at graze crossup. I think my execution is more of a limitation than its viability.

I mean really, what the fuck were they thinking mashing 5B on wakeup? At the very least, they could hit mid-level play by simply practicing combos and movement in training. But no, I guess that's just too hard for them.

Hasn't that been the case for quite some time now? These threads have been quiet for quite some time and I quit the Lobby months ago when it became 20 off-topic chatrooms and nobody who wants to play. Though I don't know how things are on IRC, I have no reason to assume it's much better over there either.

irc still has some longer running players around, though most are somewhat new crop. Games still happen but when it comes to people that are better than me who are still playing it's pretty much 3 or so that are occasionally around, I guess 5 if I count AO and Adepht but they play even more rarely.
But yeah, it's an older game so it's no wonder that there are less players about. Not all that active anymore but not dead yet either.

The one biggest thing I find lacking in your play is corner pressure. Both dishing it our and getting out of it. At some point, you will need to start using border escapes, this became really evident when I picked Tenshi.

Aside from that, you're not bad. Could probably beat or stand up to most people on /jp/. Keep it up.

>> No.9848650

>>9848634

I don't like border escapes. Every time I use it my dash speed gets reduced to almost nothing and I still get hit. It doesn't work for me for some reason. I dunno how to corner pressure with most characters, the only time I can sometimes get it is with Sakuya but I don't play her much. Either way, I feel like I'm being left behind, I used to help someone get better at this game and eventually he got way better than I did.

This game relies heavily on draining the opponent's 5 orb meter through repeated attacks, as everytime they block a ranged attack or wrongblock a melee attack they lose meter. Instead of only trying to catch your opponents off guard, in this game you also want to try and corner them, and keep pressure on them until you can drain their 5 orb meter, which forces them to guard break. At this point you have a short window of opportunity where they're helpless and you can freely combo on them.

You also have spellcards and skillcards. Skillcards are the grey cards, and spellcards the orange ones. Using a spellcard replaces one of your default inputs with a new move, and using that skillcard multiple times levels up the move and makes it more effective. Spellcards are just supers that will take up 1-4 of the cards next in line in your deck.

That's basically it. And you can fly/dash through projectile attacks harmlessly, if you weren't aware.

It's a core defining feature of the game. Most fighting game have a rock-paper-scissor triangle of attack, block, and throw. This game replaces throw with graze in that triangle.

Explain to me why its the best game?

Parrying was an awful mechanic that eliminated major aspects of the street fighter series, made the wakeup game stupid because of option selects, and made the air game just plain silly, the game demanded good "yomi" and luck moreso than solid fundamentals.

Not to mention the horrible balance problems where most of the cast was completely useless.

Even if it is the best fighting game ever made (it isn't), that doesn't mean you have to talk about it every time you post in this thread. It's annoying.
