Never played the Zero series, but the X series kinda sucked in terms of music/bosses and story (lolcapcomandstory) except the very first X game.
The gameplay was a bit better because of the upgrades you could collect but all in all the classic megamans are still more fun to play.

Zero only dies at the end of Zero 4, when he decides to stay at the Ragnarok giant battleship that's going to crash on Earth so he can fight Weil and destroy the whole thing, despite knowing that he won't be able to be teleported back when the ship starts entering the atmosphere.

I like how he fails at destroying a giant falling space ship and almost dies, which results in Earth getting completely fucked, and then succeeds on destroying the next one and saving everyone but actually dies this time.

The first two, as you already stated yourself, are really basic.
His final form is, actually, just a matter of knowing where to run during each attack. Every time he begins a new pattern you need to do something specific. If he does x, you do y, or you WILL get hit. Just keep dying until you figure them all out or watch a video. The fight is pretty stupid for a Megaman game.

It's probably a really old set of files that had to be split so short because file uploading sites back then had really small limits.

I remember dling X4 once and it was about the same number of parts, it's the only reason I think that might be why.
