Even though ZUN didn't know how to draw before Imperishable Night, I find his artstyle to be slightly cute. The childish style is what makes me feel so warm inside every time I play Touhou.

He got better and he doesn't draw cross-eyed Touhous (like Sakuya or Meiling) anymore.

That said, I wouldn't save any of his art to my picture folder. I'm rather picky about what I save.

But seriously, his art is acceptable now, and it's cute.

And effort counts for a lot.
Anyone can learn how to draw, it just takes practice. The amount of effort you need to put into your practice depends on how naturally talented you are, but I can guarantee that unless something happens to your hands that makes them unusable, even someone with no artistic talent can develop the skills to be a great artist.

ZUN's awful colouring book quality characters don't hold a candle to Wind Waker's beautiful graphics. The game was made more than ten fucking years ago and it's still better than Touhou's graphics. Not that a 2D game's graphics can be comparable to the modern technology in 3D game graphics.
