I'd answer "Is it possible to recover memories from a person if by any chance they die?", but you can actually do it with an HDD. It's not practical though, and you don't want to pay for that.
The solution is actually extremely simple: More HDDs.
I bought another 1TB disk because the thought of losing my music collection and some other things was horrifying and didn't leave me alone.
I plug it in when I need to backup, and that's that. 99.999% reliability.

>is there a torrent at the end of comikets containing all the music?

Those torrents don't need more hit-and-run casual downloaders. Their bandwidth is best used for repairing incomplete or corrupted downloads, not for people who download while capping their upload and constantly hit-and-run their torrents.

It's dangerous to make assumptions from old data, but years ago, some users posted the results of an experiment for anime torrents. A torrent posted on 4chan were almost 100% hit and run. Another torrents of different material posted in a registration required bbs forum had an acceptable mix of users which kept the torrent alive. So, posting the various doujin music torrents on 4chan would only cause the torrents to go bad. If someone genuinely wanted to fix their corrupt download, they'd bing/google the info. There's no need to post torrent URLs for casual downloaders who are going to hit and run.

Why the fuck would you want a collected torrent from an entire comiket anyway? There's probably one guy in the entire world who actually enjoys every album released, most people only want 30-40% of the albums that hit the genres they like. Just go download the albums you want, it'll save you time, save you room on your cap, and save everyone the trouble of being annoyed with you for being a selfish retard. There's literally no reason for you to even consider the collected event torrent.

Thank you for your site which supports download managers. I have not used it yet since DDL have been available (that includes the DDL for all the blogging sites).

You could download the nyaa torrent and seed those files. Since you have tested your own files already, be sure to seed from a COPY of your files to prevent accidents occurring while you set up the files.

Then change the message at your site to point to the torrent as a far more efficient use of your bandwidth because now you are leveraging. You might mention that one user was abusing your hospitality.

>Why the fuck would you want a collected torrent from an entire comiket anyway?

Your comment describes the unmentioned problem in >>9612577 since there's always those who download everything (if it is conveniently at a single easy spot) and then throw away most of the downloads. When they throw it away, that means the uploader's bandwidth was deliberately wasted by the casual downloader who abused the hospitality.

Those people don't bother even listening to samplers because it's easier just to rape someone's bandwidth if they can.

You can easily fix this with Foobar2000.

Select the tracks in Foobar
Right click, Tagging, Fix Metadata Charset
In the top box select < system code page >
In the bottom box select 932 - ANSI/OEM Japanese

Not really. Top-priority data (not yet consumed and no longer available on the Internet, personally customized and formatted collections, etc.) doesn't get that big, and the chance of the main and backup drives going down at the same time is near zero.
Unless you want to backup every single piece of media you won't ever want to peruse again (those series, those novels, those games, those bands you are thoroughly done with), there's no problem with one or at most two terabytes for backups. YMMV, of course.

Some people get too used to having every answer handed to them in a spoonfed way. They can't even see answers right in front of them, much less use google or heaven forbid, actually try to research the answers. There are three older lenfried dvd downloads online now too. If you refuse to get them, but require them to be delivered to you on a silver platter along with a billion yen or dollars as compensation for your valuable time you waste looking at them, well, more power to your C80/C81 /jp/ thread attitude. Someone's already ordered the latest lenfriend dvd and when it arrives, a good rip will be made. Maybe a lq transcode will be made from the good rip (as with the others) to hand out later.

>Touhou Bakuon Jazz 3 (東方爆音ジャズ3) - Tokyo Active NEETs
Really great hard jazz and fusion. Only track that doesn't work is their interpretation of U.N. Owen. Otherwise, genius.

>Bowling - ButaOtome (豚乙女)
I believe this is their first original album, and it's quite good, if short. Not sure what genre I'd call it.

>Parallelism α - Unlucky Morpheus
And all of a sudden, Unlucky Morpheus un-sucked at metal. Now they sound a lot like Dark Moor.

>THE WORLD DESTINATION - Alstroemeria Records
More of Minoshima and Camelia's electro house, but I feel that he has a greater variety due to not having to match tempo from one song to the next. Brostep intro track is questionable.

[EastNewSound] BlazeOut
ENS has been getting a bit stale for the past year, but BlazeOut changed that. In my opinion, their best album since Felsic Mirage. In fact, even better.

[Minstrel] あの日の蜃気楼
LIQU@。's voice is simply amazing. And yuta knows how to make some great arrangements.

[ユウノウミ] Toho Warfare:BLACK and [天然ジェミニ] Toho Warfare:RED
Rock/metal. I like the vocalists, especially 愛原千尋 and 愛原佑季. Arrangements by 平茸 are always great, too.

[こなぐすり] 月光CRIMSON -爽-
I was excited for it since hearing the crossfade, and the full album doesn't disappoint. Some of the tracks are just so addicting, like 「十六夜咲夜の現形断想」 and 「See-saw Spiral」 and 「かみかみ☆チューん」.

Just my opinion. Also, there a few albums I'm still hoping that will get uploaded like 恋文, BELIAL, Sweet Fruits Tea, and some other original albums.

I'll more than likely be trying to sub the FMV's in the game too (they all have voice in them, for those who don't have the game), as the video format is OGV. So that's another plus to using open formats I guess.

Pic related for proof for subbing ability. Video re-encode quality is purposely set low so I could quickly re-encode to test, the actual video is much higher quality.

Though I may ask around on subbing, since there's people who'd likely be capable of doing a much better job than I can.

Unless you're in Japan or close enough to get there/have the items shipped to you, it's pretty difficult for foreigners to get a good 90% of this music. Ordering online through a middleman services can be crazy expensive, too. And with this economy, I can understand why a lot of people don't do it.

What I would love to see is releases on itunes or amazon mp3, I'd be more than happy to support them and buy their CD's. If doujin artists made an effort to reach out to their overseas fans, I'm sure they'd find a lot of support and revenue.

>They clearly don't want my money because I have no way of buying their shit without paying out the ass on proxies and shipping fees

Proxies should be the LAST resort and not the first resort if you want to save money. Too many people just don't know where to look or only pick and choose a buying source in five minutes or less before giving up and going to a proxy. There's lots of native japanese anime/manga/doujin fans in Japan that are willing to ship to the USA. You see them selling doujins in their ebay shops or in other means on the web. It's possible in cases, I know first hand, to strike up a sales relationship outside of the ebay connection and submit a "search list" or "want list" of items with a pre-deposited estimate sent to the japanese person.

Yeah, yah, too much effort, I hear ya. Ya jus wanna git sumthin with no risk on your part and all the risk on their part. The teenage logic approach doesn't work. For a searched item, you send the deposit first so they can buy it on the spot if they find it. Otherwise, it is wasting their time, opportunity costs, aggravation, and travel expense just to have you tell them you change your mind, or the price is too high, or something else.

There are alternative sources too. One source will buy doujins, scan it, and send you the high-res scans. But they keep the doujin that you bought of course. You get the electronic version. The advantage is that you don't go thru customs and risk duties or confiscation for anything looking under 18. Confiscation gets your name added to a list in case of repeat offenses which may signify the buyer is a Protect Act pedophile (under 18 doujins).

[IZMIZM] Come Back (compilation CD)
[pastyle] Dimension of Bottom
[IZMIZM x pastyle] CHIASMA (more electro-house, less dnb)

Me again, I'm going to be busy all next week (at least I think so), so translation of the game may not be as fast as usual. But to make up for it, Here's a patch for all I've done so far on the translation.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2ma09rxmtpim9lu

Instructions on how to apply the patch, along with the utilities to do so are in the 7z file.

I'll set up a site later tonight for reporting issues and stuff and just link there so I don't have to keep 'intruding' on the discussion of other stuff.

Like I said in previous posts though, there's still a fair bit of stuff to be done (gfx editing, etc).

Anyhow, enjoy what's done so far.

Both places have deliberately bad uploads but PD has less of it. In the past, Share had too many "casual" users who didn't care and that made the more serious uploaders run away to PD. It's why you need to check your downloads before you allow them to be in the sharing cache. People allowing bad files to propagate suck and bring about the downfall of the system (they do the work for the troll uploader much like a disease carrier once infected goes and spreads the disease).

>Write a program that randomly picks two of the files and plays them back, without telling you which one, then asks which one sounds better.

People archive in FLAC and then transcode an MP3 for more convenient use with their portables. However, the blind listening test to prove to the doubters that archiving in lossless is the best approach fails because the doubters are almost always those with lower-end gear. Those with high-end gear and no hearing loss WILL be able to hear the difference.

Using lower-end gear, the doubters will remain doubters because they simply might not be able to hear the difference with their gear or due to their hearing being damaged from loud rap music.

My problem isn’t much about hearing the difference, it’s that I’ve “learned” to notice certain types of compression artifacts, which sucks. I personally find that Vorbis has the least annoying kind of compression artifacts, and aoTuV does an awesome job at q6 and above (pretty much transparent to my ears), so I use that for portables.

I still prefer lossless audio formats because why the fuck not?

No they won't. Stop deluding yourself. MP3 gains transparency at around 170kbps at which it's physically impossible to tell the difference, whether you use airplane earplugs, $300 headphones or Audeze full-retard placebo headphones.

I have amped 600Ω DT880s with a DAC and I can barely hear the difference between 128kbps and 320kbps. While I can still tell the difference most of the time (90%+), it is so miniscule that it shouldn't really matter. The thing with encodes is that sometimes the encoder takes to their hands to "improve" the audio by upping the volume because of shit inherent ever since the logic of Loudness Wars. Which causes obvious clipping sometimes and makes it sound like utter shit.

I don’t claim that I could easily tell any given V2 encode apart, but it did happen often enough that I stopped downloading those.
In fact, when I listen to a specific piece often enough, even at V0/320kbps, compression artifacts may become evident, though not enough to actually bother me, and certainly not often. And it’s pretty much impossible to pull that off with aoTuV encodes.

That said, I don’t mind lossy encodes, but MP3 is not my audio codec of choice there. It’s deprecated; better solutions exist. Since AAC does not have any decent free encoder (or any encoder that matches aoTuV in quality), Vorbis is my codec of choice.
The advantage lies not only in audio quality, but also much better metadata support and things like gapless playback.
Hardware support is not a concern; I own a Cowon device since 2008 or so.

In my opinion, I don't mind it, but overall I still think it needs to be executed correctly to actually sound good. Most of the time, I find the better tracks only have dubstep as an influence (ie. electro-house with the dubstep breakdown/groove somewhere in it). Some of izna's tracks, for example, certainly have that sort of influence going on in them, and some of those tracks sound pretty good.

Personally if I had to describe my main problem with what I find some doujin artists doing when they do dubstep tracks - it would be the fact that some artists seem to focus on the 'wobble' aspect of dubstep rather than the whole instrumental accompaniment. So you basically get a track that has a wobble, but nothing else to back it up, which sounds terrible.

This is only my opinion/observation on the matter, so take it with a grain of salt.
