I pronounce very few of the names "correctly" because the Japs aren't pronouncing them correctly. e.g. Alice = "ariisu".

I pronounce it Chirrno, with the "i" somewhere between "ee" in "freeze" and "i" in "ice".

She's named after cirrus clouds, which are known for preceding big storms. Because it's written "ci", ZUN went with "chi" as the closest alternative.

However Cirno doesn't mean anything in italian.
You're probably thinking of Ciro, a common south italian name.

>> No.9606397

>>9606278
But "chi" is only the closest alternative if you look at the roumaji spelling, which doesn't matter, because in Latin letters it's spelled "Cirno" anyway. When it comes to pronunciation, "shi" is the closest alternative. And "Shiruno" would still be written as "Cirno" just like "Chiruno" is (see South Park's "City Wok"). I don't see the problem.

ZUN is either an idiot or he actually wants people to pronounce it Cheerno rather than Seerno.
