It is not stated where exactly Seiga comes from, but as she lived in the mountains early in her life and then "crossed the sea" to meet Toyosatomimi no Miko and has a jiang-shi familiar, it can be assumed that she lived in China. After Seiga's father became engrossed with Taoism and left their family to become a hermit, Seiga realized her own passion for Taoism.

Eventually she was able to marry into the Kaku family. She had the freedom to do as she pleased, but this did not include Taoism, and she ended up spending eight years depressed and not willing to speak with anyone. At the end of the eight years, Seiga abruptly bid her new family farewell and faked her own death by using Taoist arts to disguise a bamboo shoot as her body. Her family found and buried this "body", while Seiga was finally free to become a hermit like her father before her.

If only Kasen-chan was more honest with her feelings, and her body...
That is why she will never be a better person like Seiga.

I had the weirdest dream last night. I was on some high cliff with Kasen, overlooking a wildly varying landscape...only whoever designed this dream didn't know anything about distance and it looked more like we were looking at a bunch of little models. Then a big ship in a desert burst open and the colossi from Shadow of the Colossus, which I've never played, came running out and spread out the land while I explained to Kasen how big they were. She seemed to be having a good time, but I'm not sure; I woke up soon after, I think.

On the subject of which of the two is more evil, remember that Kasen, you know,

DESTROYS SOULS

without even batting an eye. A real beacon of purity and goodness would give the evil spirits a second chance and send them back to the cycle of reincarnation, allowing them to repent for their sins. Instead Kasen chooses to utterly annihilate those evil spirits, dooming them to an eternity of non-existence. I wouldn't wish such a fate on my worst enemies.

That makes it arguably worse, as it is a relatively silly reason to erase humans over (humans who could very well have been oni in previous lives). Buddhism is about repentance by reincarnation and attaining purity. Destroying souls goes against the very point of reincarnation. Even a stay in Hell isn't permanent in the Cycle of Samsara. These same evil spirits could have been saints or saviors in previous lives, or would become virtuous people in their next lives. What Kasen did is unforgivable and a complete waste of not just human life, but all life in general.
