There's only one 'big' arcade that I know of in my state (aus) and I'm pretty sure the only reason it's still there is because there's a casino above it so parents can drop off their little shits to do what they want in the arcade.

It doesn't even have the old cool machines like Metal Slug or Raiden. I'd play that all the time if it existed ;_;

Yeah. I don't like how you spend more money to play the 'good' games and they don't even last long.

Used to be one near me about 10 minutes train ride that was awesome. It had rows and rows of machines but now they downgraded it and there's only 1 DDR machine and nothing else worth playing.

I'd think that, if you can handle social interaction, it would still be worth going just to hang out with normalfag moot, and try to gather a small circle of people who just want to sit around and bullshit about how lame the place is. My imouto lives in Brooklyn and I haven't seen her in a while and I'm trying to convince her to go just so I can use her as a social crutch and have an excuse for actually showing up that doesn't make it look like I want to fellate moot, because I know then at least there will be one cool person there to dick around with.

I mean, I'm fucking insane at Tapper and all, but it's not like I'd ever want to sit around and show off to people how great I am at it or anything. Sitting at home with a case of beer and trading off the controller on Katamari with a couple friends would be a cheaper, more enjoyable gaming experience than going to barcade for the games. Still, to mootles's credit, I guess it's better than a "normal" normalfag bar.

I propose we ban paper. Paper can be used:
* to produce photographic and drawn child pornography
* to produce and consume drugs (notably cocaine)
* for the purposes of blackmail, slander and hate speech
* to commit arson
* as a weapon

At the very least, paper sales should be restricted to people over the age of 21, or to government-approved license holders.

Everything is electro-mechanical instead of digital, mostly 60's machines, so while I miss out on some of my favorites like Theater of Magic, it's still a fucking ball to go play them. A lot of them are still set up for three games (not 3 balls, 3 fucking games) for a quarter, it's a really cheap and fun way to waste an afternoon

I think its partially beacause everything in Japan is much more expensive, including video games and consoles.

This means the Japanese would rather spend short term money on multiple arcade games, rather than saving for a console and one game. Plus if they do buy a console than it can't play all games, like only certain brand titles, where as you can play arcade games no matter the brand title owners.

There's a little arcade in my mall that, at one time, was pretty big and filled with a lot of cool games. They cut it to a 3rd of the size it was, put a subway next to it, and filled it with boring shooting games and pinball games.

I wish they would put a fighting game in there. I don't even care which, just one. The only working pinball machine has a busted flipper, Capcom vs. SNK has a fucked up screen and everything is green, diagonals are impossible to do with the P1 stick, Lethal Enforcers is calibrated wrong so you can only reload, and one of the DDR machines has no sound. I just ended up playing Galaga and some Japanese Point Blank variant where you shoot ghosts. It was pretty depressing really, to see all those games in such a poor state.

The arcade at the mall I've lived near my whole life is now a damned fabric store. I'm going to miss playing Street Fighter II in there.

The only arcade in my area that I can think of with a variety of fighters in it is the one in Canada's Wonderland. And I'm not paying 80 bucks or whatever just to spend 5 dollars on MvC2.

Motherland had small gacha columns in every store some time ago. Well, not gacha, just lottery. You put something like 1/6 of a dollar and expect more to come out. Of course there was only 5% chance to get your coin back and 1% chance to get two of them. People were flocking around those pillars for years, until they got banned. Now they just put aggregate in various buildings with shaded or blocked out windows.

Because motherland and its Roubles instead of money.
So its 5 rouble coin, no need to cut anything. People were coming with bags full of those coins just to "play".

Actually, I forgot. There are different machines around now, they have a display with some poorly drawn mechanic that walk through and breaks/repairs stuff on his way like in a platformer. You cant control anything, and the outcome is the same of course - you get jack shit. I guess by including visual element they bypassed the ban on lotteries. Now its 100% legit arcades. Why I'm not happy yet...

Your "yu" was obviously a misspelling, because it's not actually a word. Given all the words he could have misspelled, though, and given that mixing up "to" and "too" is a common mistake, it's far more likely that it was a mistake in usage and not a misspelling.

There's the trocadero in london which used to be really good but I haven't been in years

>> No.9546073

Because England is a shit country and youth culture is dominated by chavs and people with no interest in nerdy things like arcade games. Also, the lack of interest makes it more expensive to operate, so lots of places hold on to outdated/faulty machines way longer than they should.

For example, my local AMF (a bowling alley) has a bunch of arcade games, including DDR. They had a Dancing Stage Euromix 2 for an incredibly long time, and only got a Supernova in 2010 or so. However, the screen on it was faulty or not connected properly or something, and despite numerous reports/complaints and giving out extra credits when the machine fucked up, they never got it fixed. Then about a year or so ago, they replaced it with another shitty Euromix 2 because it was apparently expensive and underused (I fucking wonder why). So much for progress.

The only decent arcade in England is probably the one at the Trocadero in London. It's actually pretty good; the trouble is though, that anyone not living nearby, with easy access to central London via train/tube, has great difficulty getting to it. Driving into London is pretty much a no-go, getting a coach takes forever depending on your location, and getting a train from anywhere that's not an adjacent county is prohibitively expensive.

So much truth, I fucking hate living in the UK so much. I'm probably closer to a 'normal' than many people on this board, I go to parties and take drugs and stuff and even I think the UK is boring as fuck. The only choice of entertainment is either a pub or a club which I can't stand because I don't drink and the only events we have are stuff like MCM expo or Japan Festival, the latter being as excruciatingly awful as it sounds. MCM isn't bad but has gotten worse over the years.

Go to another country, there's much more entertaining shit even in Canada which is said to be the most boring place in North America, at least you can walk around at night without having to worry about being stabbed. You know you live in a shit country when it's actually surreal to feel safe.

Trocadero (Funland) has been closed for over a year.

All the good cabinets have been taken by some guy who'll be opening an arcade for just fighting games in central some time.

Casio Arcade in Goodge Street has various games available, SSFIV AE, 3s, there's always 2 or 3 cave STGs and they have some huge Darius Blast cabinet. Only one in Europe.

There's also Vegas Arcade in Soho that has an ITG machine, DJ Max Technika 2 and a few other things from Trocadero (Funland) when it closed down.

However, the basement of Trocadero is open again with arcade games and there's a fair amount to play. Point Blank 1 & 2, Daytona USA and Sega Rally Championship are the highlights though.

Living in the UK isn't great I agree, but living close to London makes it a little easier.

Pic related, my Egret 3 before I sold it because I thought I was moving. Had an ESP Ra.De. board in it, I don't like emulation.

Going to get an Aero City when I eventually move.
