I'd recommend:
Kamikyokutachi -> Set List: Greatest Songs Kanzenban -> (Koko ni Ita Koto) -> Stages

Kamikyokutachi because it has some of their biggest hits with their recent style, then Set List which has older songs from when their atmosphere was a bit different. Like the earlier anon, I don't really like Koko ni Ita Koto's new songs, but you can check it out.

After listening to the albums (and perhaps the most recent singles that aren't on albums yet), progress to the stage shows. These are the performances they do at the theater, and are marked by team and number, e.g. A1 is team A's first stage. With stages you can start from the team that you like the most (or the team your favourite is from). Stages have a lot of great songs, but they are easier to appreciate once you know a bit about the teams and members.

I was a little disappointed Sakura got kicked out of KKS, I thought she was alright. I was however very relieved to find Umetan still in there, she's been my favourite addition for a very long time. I wonder if there'll be promotions at Tokyo Dome and maybe replace temporary members too.

As for the new game, I won't be buying it as long as Sashihara is on the cover. Acchan still being featured in the game a couple of months after graduating is also a little odd.

Somehow, the management is putting way too much spotlight on Acchan's graduation. If you put too much dramatic focus around a graduation, it's going to exhaust people emotionally and make them feel like AKB will be over after her grad.

Well, there's a reason Noro isn't in anymore. They kind of graduated all the older and less aesthetic girls (that had been accepted in at the very beginning of AKB when they were younger & cuter, and the pool of girls to select from wasn't as huge as it is now) into SDN48 because the management doesn't have the balls to tell girls to actually graduate.

Then they graduate the whole SDN48 because "there isn't a mechanism to graduate girls".

I was wondering why they got Joseph Kahn to make the video for Gingham Check, and now I understand. He made a very entertaining movie last year called Detention (kind of like Scott Pilgrim + Scream), which he apparently used his life savings and took out loans to finance, but it bombed horribly and he lost a lot of money on it. Since then he's been directing commercials because he needs the money, so it's less "AKB is so popular they can get a famous American director for their video" than "Joseph Kahn is broke so he'll take whatever".

I know what you mean by that, although your tone makes me kinda cringe. I feel like Mayu represents herself like an idol of the pure maiden variety. Not so much about him favoring Paruru but there not being better girls, really. Even newer generations of SKE & NMB + HKT beat Team 4 any day. The AKB49 manga is not what I expected upon reading the first 10 chapters. It isn't a moe manga. It isn't forced plot fanservice although it does have some in it. I am not an AKB48 fan (it's just the name of some idol group to me).

What I especially like about AKB49 is that it has a "meaty" story in it. It's not watery meat-foam bologna like idolmaster. And instead of the stereotypical "idol" type manga, it chooses a male character as the main character.

The manga seems to be trying hard to reach out to an audience that is not required to be AKB48 fans but at the same time still have enough AKB material to keep the AKB fans interested.

Sense-scans.com has the scanlated AKB49 chapters. One of the threads in their forum has all the mediafire downloads conveniently listed.

If I had to guess seriously, I'd say Sae (not because of her "ikemen" image - that's totally a complete act). Err, no one said they think the fanservice bits are serious, rather the opposite. I do think there are lesbians/bis in 48 - there has to be, given how many girls there are - but I don't think girls kissing girls means they are lesbian.

Though I also think it's wrong to say that the fanservice forced on the poor girls who actually hate it by evil men. Besides the possibility of girls who would be sexually into it, girls tend to be physically closer to their friends and hugging, petting, giving playful kisses is quite normal behaviour between two friends. It can be an expression of trust and friendliness rather than lust.

In an environment where this is tolerated and all the girls are pretty, it's quite normal they'd enjoy doing these things without anyone pushing them to do it, whether or not they are straight, though of course the management might encourage it too.
