If Gensokyo holds the things that are being forgotten by the world, then what other stuff could be there, besides the feudal Japan things?
Maybe there is a valley in there covered in moss and ancient trees, with books and parchments thrown all over the place. The collected Ancient Alexandria Library works, with Patchouli's library holding a fragment of the ones that she managed to restore.
