Touhou Hisoutensoku is the third fighting game in the Touhou Project and like its predecessors, Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Touhou Hisoutensoku is a collaboration between ZUN and Twilight Frontier. Due to that collaboration, its art was drawn by Alphes and the music was composed by U2 Akiyama, both from Twilight Frontier.

Is this game supposed to be so damn hard? I've played quite a few fighters, but this one really takes is for difficulty. I'm just playing on normal and still getting destroyed and having to spend at least 2 continues to get through the stages.

So far I've only beat Sanae and Cirno's story, to get a feel for the mechanics, but god damn I had a lot of trouble.

Just fly around and avoid it. Spell cards from most bosses are super easy with the exception of a few that has zero patterns. Melee moves on first strike within the first few secs of spell card does like 40% to the gauge so that should help.

This bitch's last spell card is just bullshit and you just have to spam pretty much.

Storymode is still bullshit regardless, and doesn't really teach you how to play the game, since you just spam your strongest move until they go down. Play arcade mode on lunatic to get down the basics, look up videos to learn how to combo and online tactics for whatever characters you like to play as.

GG's, Mr. Mysterious Stranger. Unfortunately, Soku is the only game I like and really invested a lot of time in. I tried playing the new Melty Blood release for a while, but I'm terrible at fighting games, so I ended up quitting. I wanted to try Skullgirls for a while, but I don't have a PS3 or 360.

I think I just lost all rounds because I never bothered to focus on a single character. I always wanted to try and learn all of them, but that just made me become a jack-of-all-trades that's not good with any of them.

I do the same, it's fun, nothing you should be ashamed of, even if other people tell you to main just one.

We're putting in our IP addresses that it says on our computers, but it seems that the game requires a different one? The amount of numbers is not the same.

You didn't really do any combos with Suwako. Even her basic 3 input combos would help your offensive game.

You like to fly up a lot. Flying up and unnecessarily is really bad in this game.

However, once you establish a better understanding of the game, it's one of your strongest defensive tools (avoid air unblockable setups, better positioning) and offensive tools (rush down, cross ups, baits).

For now, you should really use air dashes since they are used for general combos and grazing, especially as Suwako.

I'm sorry. Whenever I play, I pretty much forget anything I've ever learned about escaping pressure, so I try to figure out what works as I go along. Jumping away seemed to work a lot, so that's what I did.

In high delay (read: always), I try to "play nice", so to speak. No mashing during pressure or on wakeup. No attempting to guardcrush. I want every hit to be on purpose instead of lagtics. I've played against people that use a lot of lagtics (e.g. various Remilia shenanigans), so I know how frustrating that is. I hope my improper escapes didn't upset you too much.

Don't worry about it. I don't want to subject people to my internet. I'm moving in about a month, so maybe the new internet will be better there. Besides, my IP is dynamic and ends up changing every week or so whenever my router resets randomly in the middle of the night.

Nothing in your computer itself should be stopping you from connecting to another person, save for your game's version. As to why you can't make a server, the fastest solution is to disable your firewall and figure out how to forward port 10800 UDP, in addition to having version 1.10a. You don't need to have SWR linked to Soku in order to connect or host a server, but you'll have less characters and well, nobody plays without all the characters as far as I know.

Mmm, aggression is not that important when in the corner, you often let me run the full field at you with you doing nothing. You also shouldn't trust in the 3A too much, while you can knock some things out, it's not all that fast and can be shutdown Pretty much all characters can do strings tight enough that your attempts at 3A will only lead to you getting counterhit. I'm a bit slow to input so my strings are easier to melee out of but in general it's really dangerous to try that.

randomfag here. A lot of beginners in soku tend to let themselves be caught against walls. This is the least ideal situation since characters always have the best combos and blockstrings when pinning the opponent to the wall.

If this is a problem for you, add Bomb, Divine Raiment of the Dragon Fish, and a few low cost reversal spellcards in your deck. Learn how to border escape as well. A Penny Saved might be a good system card if you know how to use it, and Sword of Scarlet Perception might come in handy if the queued weather is favorable for escaping corner pressures.

Fast bullets are really for firefights. Use slow bullets for zoning in midscreen battles while grazing in for a melee hit.

Border Escape, Highjumps, regular jumps, dashing forwards are most likely the more common ways of getting out of pressure. Don't get me wrong, poking with melee is also and alternative, but you just need to figure out which escape method would work in which situations. After I noticed you were keen on throwing melee out in the corner, I started exclusive doing strings that are meant to stop you from doing that, HJ or BE would easily have gotten you out of them. Of course there's no "best way" to escape, it all depends on what the opponent is actually doing.

You might want to work on your defensive part of your play. As you saw, if you keep trying to mash out of my strings, more than not, you end up losing the advantage. Learn your options whether you should hj, BE, or poke out. Most of the time, i couldnt even get a single blockstring loop before i end up CHing you.

Thing with characters you don't know how to fight, you gotta start by analyzing them first. It's more of a reason why you should try to sit back, find an opening, then abuse it. What i mainly used is what i like to call my autopilot string (j.A j.B j.6C) that i use until my opponent knows/learns to adapt and escape the string.

If you notice, theres a HUGE loophole between j.B j.6C. There, you should have taken the opportunity to hj8BE and force neutral. I've noticed you constantly tried to BE and mash me thereafter. Dont try to mash after a BE. Most of the time, unless you KNOW you can punish them, you should be trying to force neutral after defensive escapes.

tl;dr Analyze the opponent first before making rash decisions, because the less you know your opponent, the less you can do anything about it.

I'm really not good enough to give advice beyond blocking on wakeup. You can get away with jumping out if you're facing an idiot like me but a more experienced player would probably punish most of your attempts to jump out.
To escape the blockstring I was doing, time a border escape when you anticipate no melee is going to hit you out of it. Though I think it's supposed to be tight, I'm sure you could've also jumped out when I dropped the combo. Try to avoid poking out of pressure too much, or it'll get punished.
Beyond those, I don't have much of an idea. I just sort of shlop around the stage and get hits in so I'm not sure how you'd want to improve on general gameplay.
