Yes. 100% real research[citation needed].

But seriously, I remember seeing some study that found Internet-addicted people were still introverted according to one of the Big Five tests, regardless of how "sociable" they were online. I'll try and find it. Until then, assume I am bullshitting or making this up for some reason.

There'll be a more concrete definition of this somewhere. "Extraversion" as a personality trait is a factor analysis of a bunch of other traits, after all.

Or maybe at best find the least dangerous looking person and hang out with them.

Is that person introverted just because in that particular situation they're introverted? I'm not sure.

A personality is too complex to be explained with 4 letters.

It's not meant to explain. It's meant to give a general, very abstract idea what a person might be like.

Heh, but this test offers 16 different personality types, and changing a letter turn you into pretty much the opposite of other persons in some defined traits. For instance, I was labeled as an INTP but I'd never imagine myself to be an ENTP or an INTJ.

I'd be a fool to take this or any other test that has not been scientifically proven to be 100% accurate seriously.

Still this test gives you an output that is practically the same as the input.

are you comfortable among other people?
No
You are introverted!

Wow, really?! Would have never guessed!

This is not a test at all it's just a questionnaire.

I got INTJ.
In the past I've gotten INTJ, ENTJ (obvious bullshit since I am in not extroverted), and ISTJ.

I'd give you the merit for that if that was the only question concerning that matter. Plus, the answers are not given that way. Instead, you're supposed to rate how uncomfortable you are among other people.
And I'm pretty sure most people out of /jp/ answered this test as if they are comfortable with the presence of other people, too. Yet, this test gives an outcome of 51% of people as being introverted.

>> No.8963716

To make this slightly more interesting, what personality type would each Touhou character have?

>> No.8963721

Those tests are bullshit because nerds always skew their answers to suit what they think is cool(that is, rational and analytical over emotional) instead of what they actually do.

Truthful introspection is extremely fucking rare, so just treat those results as who /jp/ aspires to be instead of who they are.

>> No.8963737

>>8963721
So... you're saying "nerds", usually social outcasts, are actually extroverted despite being, you know... "nerds"?

>> No.8963743

Other questions are equally blatantly obvious, I couldn't help but shacking my head every time it asked me if I was valuing thinking over feeling.

This stuff is nothing but garbage, no serious psychologist would use that. You want a serious personality test? Then try T.A.T.
O.R.T.
M.M.P.I.
or Rorschach

P.S. I just can't fathom how can people seriously think that Jung's theories are valid.

>> No.8963771

>>8963737
No, I'm just saying what the nerds on /jp/ do. Normals just choose whatever they hold as positive, as long as they're smart enough.

All tests like that are bullshit.

I don't remember the first time I had psychological evaluation(I was 7 or so)but from the time I was about 11 I just blatantly lied to every question to make myself as normal as possible(but not perfect to avoid suspicion), since I didn't want any trouble.

Doesn't matter whether you're lying on purpose or skewing the results unconsciously, it doesn't represent who you are, just who you want to be/want others to think you are.

Oh, and as an aside, yes, I'm entirely sure that one can be nerdy and awful at talking to people while still being generally extroverted and desiring of the social interaction. Just because you're a failure at being extroverted doesn't automatically mean you're introverted.

>> No.8963805

INTJ
ISTJ
ESTJ
ENTJ

I'm always one of these four, depending on the exact questions.

This.

When I first took this gay ass test 8 years ago I pretty much filled out what I thought I was, a cold hard super intelligent introvert.

Fucking teenage years. I took it again recently and was far more honest about it and got cold hard super intelligent introvert
