I would prefer to never work a day in my whole life, but my situation is making it difficult to avoid. Before, I couldn't find one after half a year of searching so I just stopped caring. But now I'm directly being offered a position and my parents are aware of it, and I don't really have any other choice than to show up to the interview unless I want to risk being kicked out of my home for deliberately turning down a job. Hopefully I come across as being just too incompetent and either botch the interview or just fail horribly at everything after being hired, but I'm bad at pretending.

Employers aren't just looking for someone who will come to work and do a decent job. They want someone they can be friends with, someone with a nice haircut and a girlfriend outside of work. Someone they can talk about cars with and have some office "banter".

Work is a continuation of everything else. You leave school and go to university, thinking "everyone will be different here!"... and it doesn't happen. Normalfags everywhere. You think work will be different since there's less forced socialising. Wrong.

I don't like the idea of a job. It's a trap and I don't want to fall into it.

They ask me to sacrifice the majority of my life in exchange for money, but I won't have any time to use this money because I'll be working so much.

Let's break it down real quick. Assume that it takes you one hour to get dressed, cleaned up, and drive to work and it takes you one hour to get back home, so that's two hours of travel time. Now you work eight hours and come home and you're exhausted so you go to sleep for at least eight hours, this is eighteen hours spent not having fun. This leaves me with SIX hours each day for free time. What the fuck? You're asking me to sacrifice 75% of my life. That is insanity.

My goal is self-employment. I've been getting into indie game development lately and I hope that I can make enough shitty games to afford me a modest lifestyle. Maybe a studio apartment, a car, and money for necessary expenses.

I agree with you, but having a degree is still an asset, albeit one slowly decreasing in value. It widens your prospects since you can apply to many graduate positions with any degree.
